Potential kingfisher spots to be had very close to town if any of those pool overshoes end up discarded by the canal.

@gembo they've put the red surfacing down, not just red chipped tarmac. The lanes might be wider too...

School had visit from fire brigade again today. False alarm. Have canal worth of water close by if anything happened!

Thankfully, I'm usually cycling there earlier than school starting time, but the other day, around ~8:15am, it took me 2 cycle of traffic light to pass the canal bridge and another 2 to go through the Fountainpark lights...

A busy route past the city’s newest high school could be closed to traffic over fears pupils are not being kept safe.

"Hundreds of cars travel over the bridge every day"

Meanwhile showing a picture depicting quite literally hundreds of children walking over the bridge in the space of 5 minutes!

“We’re absolutely delighted and the whole school community is absolutely thrilled.”

I suppose the dominie is too young to have watched 'Absolutely' back in the day...

    Calum, no?

Gavin was his mate who lived in York.

@cb, sorry you are right. That was a funny scene when Gavin came in to it though.

Turns out Gavin lives in New York, or does he?

Here his pal with the anorak attempts to spell his surname Gilhooley

using the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie nomenclature - makes me laugh.

I assume you watched to the end? Or are you just trying to lead us in?

Builder maybe said they would go bust if council clawed back the late fees..?

Maybe better to focus on how lovely the new school is than waste time and money on something that can’t be sorted? I assume the builders were not cowboys when they tendered?

That seems to have been their direction of travel.

I knew a builder once in Balerno. One half of a firm of mostly shopfitters. He decided to emigrate to Canada leaving the other partner the business. The guy who stayed in Balerno worked away on the jobs on the books but didn’t plan ahead and a few months later when there was no work up ahead completely panicked and wound up the business.

Not saying that is what happened here but everyone can be fragile even rough tough builders

Have they finished that set of steps on the Fountainbridge side yet? Every time I went past it was fenced-off with someone hosing off a load of mud onto the footway.

@wingpig good question, not sure. I used to use the ramp on occasion but not for a long time. If forced to answer yes or no by Kamala Harris I would say yes
