I was part of a chain of 7 heading through Haymarket the other night. Only one went down Haymarket Yards. On West Coates there was a similarly sized group going the opposite direction.

Was on a 2 coach train from Kirkaldy about 5:30 yesterday.

    Mobbed with passengers.

6 bikes by Dalmeny. All got off at Haymarket (bit of a scramble).

I meant to post this earlier on the week but now will do.

Cycling home on Tuesday Night I passed 59 cyclists between Ferrytoll Junction and the A90 slip road at Burnshot. I saw more cyclists but was only counting those on the same road/path as me.

I think 50 is the most I have counted previously which was during Dalmeny diversion days so a longer route.

    This morning:

    - I counted 8 bikes heading west between Balgreen and the entrance to Roseburn Park

    - I was part of a line of 6 (!) going east over the temporary path in the park

    - 9 people waiting in the ASL at West Maitland Street: no room for me to join

Not London CSH numbers, but a steady and growing stream

On the bridge I could see 7 people ahead of me going South and 6 coming Fifebound.

Couldn't cope with the crowds, so headed through Dalmeny Estate and saw nobody...

Six cyclists in the stop box on Queen Street at the North St David Street junction this morning.
Something weird going on today as London Road Roundabout-York Place wasn't bunged up and half the hooks in the changing rooms were free.

Huge numbers on the Innocent today (and quite a few walkers as well). Many were wearing what I'd call winter gear - I'd be boiling.

On the downside, workman seem to be closing the route just west of Duddingston Road South. This is to do something in Niddrie Burn. As usual no advanced notice and no diversion indicated (when I passed it wasn't quite closed but the signs were going up).

i was earlier than normal and behind a queue of traffic at the King's junction - saw a peloton going around the corner towards the meadows, and three groups of parent and child cyclists in the intersection.

on the other hand, the MMW counter seems quite low most days? guess that's the students being away.

Congestion on the NEPN this morning as six anticlockwise cyclists and three anticlockwise pedestrians encountered four clockwise cyclists and four clockwise pedestrians around Wardie Road.

@amir - do you mean Duddingston *Park* South? Came through there at the weekend with kids and there was no sign of anything.

The Christian Path (a.k.a Jobbie Lane) in Porty has been shut for overhead line works since the weekend. There were lots advance warning signs and a well signed diversion*. Possible that different contractors have different standards - pity they can't all be like this one.

    * though not a very pleasant diversion as all on busy roads.

@urchaidh sorry - yes that's the place. They were just starting. Hopefully it will be only for a short period but no way to tell.

Seemed like everyone in Edinburgh who owns a bike was riding it this morning, and nearly all with a smile on their face.

Just a glorious day to be out on a bike.

A good number of commuters in both directions on the Fife side of the bridge.

Was 5th in a queue of people arriving at the barrier at work today - normally 1 or 2 max. Lots of people in the changing room that I didn't recognise as well. good to see.

Plenty of other cyclists all around me all the way up Leith Walk this morning, when there are usually only a couple here and there, though it might have been like that for a couple of months as I've been taking other routes whenever possible.

I think there have been more cyclists around than usual recently.

"I think there have been more cyclists around than usual recently."

    Agreed.

Of course the unseasonal weather has been helping.

As 'we' know, a) no-one has to cycle every day b) it's possible to cycle in all weathers.

I was near the back of a line of 11 bikes waiting to go through Haymarket this evening. Only two of them turned off to take NCN1; the rest of us went along West Coates.

Lots of other bikes spotted on the way home as well.

There's seemed to be many more than usual for the time on my commute this morning. Warm weather and lighter?

I was through in Coatbridge yesterday, took the train then cycled round to the school. Enormous bike shed, locked at both ends but with all the Perspex taken out. I decided I would take the bike in to the school office which caused a bit of a stir. Everyone lovely and friendly but no one cycling through that way as wee folding bike has posted about. Shame as good path beside train track on lovely sunny day. On way back trains all cancelled due to breakdown in Partick. Had to go into queen street and come back on main line, met nice young chap from north of Inverness who had been to Dunoon for the day mountain biking. If it had been the summer I feel I would just have cycled home from Coatbridge.

As ever when through in west, very wide roads but also very big lorries

Well over half of the towpath users that I spotted this morning were cyclists. I recognised perhaps half of them and suspect that many others are semi-regulars, but there were definitely some new faces in there. It is a nice day and it was fairly quiet overall (pedestrian numbers will jump back up again when the schools go back), but still.

5 of us closely bunched heading south over the bridge this morning. First 3 headed towards Kirkliston.

I was crossing the bridge in a motor vehicle yesterday a little after 5 pm and spotted more cyclists (5 < n < 10) than I would have expected. I would be reporting an exact number had I actually planned to count them, but having spotted 'several' by the halfway point made me take note.

    @jdanielp

and yesterday being a bank holiday was one of the quietest days I can remember

@paddyirish I suppose bank holiday may contribute to more people being out on pleasure rides, but in that case I'm surprised that so many were heading over after dark. I'd assume that bridge-crossers are quite hardy types though.

For the first time ever (that I've witnessed) all 12 showers at work were occupied simultaneously this morning.

Might have more to do with everyone timing their ride to be in the office at exactly 9am on their first day back.
