This morning about 7.45 there were 8 red lights ahead of me heading into town on the bit of the A90 cycle Path that was parallel to the dual carriageway. The most I have ever seen in a one go.
Not bad for January - people sticking to their New Year's resolutions?

5 of us going along London Road today with many going in the opposite direction . Just changed commute route and it was nice being around so many other cyclists.

Twelve cyclists in a line heading west along the WoL between Stedfastgate and Warriston Crescent this morning.

Yes, loadsacyclists about. I was passed by a little peloton of 4 yesterday evening (admittedly obviously 4 people travelling together) and noted many others.
Most that I see have adequate lighting; a few have inadequate lighting; I hardly see any with no lights at all.
Edited to add a link to this video of how to beat the London tube strike.

Was in a row of 6 cyclists on canal this morning before I turned off for Haymarket at Fountainbridge. Puncture had meant I was late getting down to the canal so had a few more people to content with than usual - hopefully avoid doing that again. I like my riding relaxed, but any more than 3 riders in a row becomes cumbersome when trying to safely overtake peds.

Last night travelling East to West over the Braids I saw 3 cyclists independently going West to East - that in itself I thought was noteworthy, but then I saw a 4th, 5th and waiting at the Cross Roads a 6th! Very rarely do I encounter a bike going the same way as me mind you!

At Morningside Station a few minutes ago, I saw six bikes in the southbound ASZ, with more filtering up to join them.
On a cold dark night in January...

Both yesterday and today I have overheard someone in the office being exciting about getting their new bike and telling their friends about it :-)

Ditto in my office. A colleague has just ordered a bright green Brompton from BikeTrax. She'll be using it on a multi-modal commute from Dunbar, which is a brilliant alternative to using the car as she used to.

Along Russell Road - 15 in about 3 minutes. At one point in a group of 6 with 3 cyclists coming the other way.
Cyclists decant off the NCN1 slalom or Roseburn Park, so it usually is fairly busy.
Too many to count on the canal.

I'm not sure that the president of Turkmenistan is a suitable role model, but it would send a really good message just once to see Sturgeon in her trademark heels and suit riding a utility bike to parliament.

@ih
I once had tangential dealings with the FM and her security is far more intense than I expected. Regular death threats it appears. Possibly not fair to the people who look after her to be bicycling down the High Street?
Posted 7 years ago # -
The FM is a bit para tho
She was well jumpy when i was behind her in the cash machine queue

She was well jumpy when i was behind her
I think I gave her cat fleas when I met her. Not even Special Branch can stop those little blighters.
Posted 7 years ago # -
@IWRATS - punctuation is key here. Was it her you gave cat fleas to, or was it her cat that you gave fleas of some kind to?
Posted 7 years ago # -
@Greenroofer
Ah! Is it hyphenated? Cat-fleas? Reminds me - must dose the little blighter now the weather's warming up. (The cat, not the First Minister.)

Is she still jumpy or has SB caught the fleas?

5 bikes turning right w-bound at the fairly nasty junction of Dundee St and Henderson Tce near Diggers
Posted 7 years ago # -
@eddie_h - That junction is hideous and the descending road in dreadful repair.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Definitely more and more on bikes.
Several new cyclists in work, most cycling every day.
Lots of new faces on my commute route.
This morning, 10 in the ASZ at West Maitland St (at least 3 CCErs amongst them)

"Several new cyclists in work"
Bbbut it's 'winter'.

new record on NEPN this morning just past 5 ways, at one point I could count 12 all in view at same time.

I meant to post on Wednesday morning after seeing the usual mass of cyclists crossing the Meadows and on the towpath, but also an ASZ overflowing with them opposite me at the King's Theatre Junction and then a bunch more cycling towards town as I proceeded along Gilmore Place.

7 Cyclists past me between turning West at Dalmeny Estate's gates and arriving in the middle of the village. 4 of them were within about 100m although all evenly spaced so that the triathlon judges wouldn't think they were drafting.

How's does @chdot remember posts from two years ago?
I counted the bikes in the basement at work seven times in January. On 12 January (a day of appalling weather) there were 75. Every other time I counted there were more than 90. On three occasions there were more than 110. In January.
We have never previously had more than 100 bikes in the basement in January in three years of counting.
Admittedly, some of this is due to people moving to our site from other sites that are closing, but quite a bit is just due to there being 'more of us'.

"How's does @chdot remember posts from two years ago?"
Don't.
Just looking at start of thread to see how old it was.
'We' like stats.
Especially ones more reliable than ScotGov ones which, inevitably, rely on small samples.
