CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Don't think I've ever passed so many cyclists coming the other way as I rode to work between Leith and Edinburgh Park this morning just after 6am.
Usually lucky to only see one or two until I'm on the last stretch between Balgreen and Ed Park, where I may see another couple - yet this morning I'd passed 8 before I even got to the Red Bridge, and passed at least another 10 before I got to work around 6.35'ish.
Things are definitely changing.
i counted 11 going the other way in the tunnel alone, this morning as I whizzed down the Innocent. A new record.
Not even like it's warm and sunny!
178 in the bike store at work today. Highest number ever (or in the four years I've been counting, at least)
I was in a line of 9 on the rubbish wee cycle lane outside Haymarket Station.
18 bikes using 8 bike racks at Tesco on Nicholson St last night.
a record breaking 43 between starting point of Innocent tunnel and when I leave Innocent @ Magdalene.
Probably the wrong thread, but wow, there were hundreds of cyclists on arthur's seat last night - all ages and all kinds of bikes. notable spots included a woman in a Mapei jersey. white haired gentlemen in at least 70s if not 80s on a new looking road bike. a couple of women on 'upright' bikes. and my 6yo in his 'KOM" jersery who did the climb twice with the rest of the ERC juniors whose crit at Ingliston had been cancelled (AGAIN) at short notice.
"Probably the wrong thread"
Definitely not.
185 bikes in the bike park at work today. Highest number on record.
And you can (and probably would anyway!) do it all again tomorrow for Cycling Scotland's Big Count.
I'll be doing the same at my work.
@Arellcat - yes, the Big Count is in my diary
It has been hoaching the last two nights on the aqueduct tonight about 18.15 and last night later at about 18.55
I mean really hoaching

Just back from a week in NYC, and you haven't seen hoaching until you've been there. Masses of cycling (much of it that would have drivers here in a frenzy - few lights, lots of RLJ and cycling on the wrong side of the road). Masses of bike hire, including private companies around Central Park.
thank Stickman - I've updated my spokes count stats page. It's in serious need of an overall but has some interactive(ish) graphs http://coherentbits.co.uk/visualisation/spokes/
Both groups all female too.
They were together, and they seemed like 'average folk' rather than 'cyclists'.
My feeling is that this was more the new norm rather than 'odd' - a change from 5-10 years ago(?)
Was it just me who thought there were there loads of bikes around at home time?
Yes... Kings Theatre / Gilmore Place was busy.
Deliveroo guy waiting at red said he was coming to try out a bIke from me.
Then forumer (I bet) with a 'follow me' towing a green childs bike came round corner.
Closely followed by AlanR on his low down ICE Sprint X heading south.
Might not be Amsterdam but you can't argue with the variety on streets here.
the magic 50 reached this morning, highest ever recorded since records began*), between starting point of Innocent tunnel and when I leave Innocent @ Magdalene.
I was on 49 for quite a while and was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen.
*records began in June 16.
Last night was really busy. 5 cyclists converged on the traffic lights crossing the A90 just east of Cramond Brig.
4 converged at the point where Ferrymuir Gait meets the cycle path heading to the bridge and I was at the back of a queue of 4 cyclists waiting to cross the Northbound Slip road at Ferrytoll.
While waiting at the Roseburn Street lights this morning I counted 9 cyclists going to/from Roseburn Terrace/West Coates.
When I was on West Coates I was one of 10 heading into town; probably the same passed me in the opposite direction.
Someone in my office BUG is doing a count of bikes in the racks. 38 in January, 81 last week.
Stickman, If I am right about where you work they must have installed more bike rack in the last three years. That or bikes are now being locked to the railings in more locations.
Yesterday morning there were six cyclists at the Ashley Terrace/Polwarth Gardens junction eastbound and another two waiting on the other side at Gray’s Loan just after the bell at Craiglockhart School. That’s a lot for that junction.
I've taken that way going through Polwarth to avoid the canal towpath closure so possibly others are as well.
Was in a queue of 10 this morning at the King's Theatre junction. Nice weather brought everybody out, it seems.
Disappointed to find that there were 'only' 178 bikes in the bike park at work today. I had secretly hoped that the glorious weather would have got us over the 200 mark.
