Roseburn path was heaving about 0815 this morning, quietened down about five ways.

ASL at the East end of East Mayfield was packed with about 5 or 6 cyclists this morning.

I was passed by THREE cyclists on my way home (long commute) yeaterday. One was probably a commuter (with a backpack) the other two looked more like they were out for a ride.

Had 5 or 6 cyclists ahead of me on the Bridge on Monday night. That is a lot for winter.

Two members of my team are starting to cycle from the Park and Ride to work. Small steps, but welcome ones.

I've been asked by a colleague who drives to fairmilehead from the countryside, then gets the bus to look at an e-folder for him in London when I'm down. He's interested in something powerful that will get him in and out and around the city for his work day. More and more people seeing cycling as the viable flexible alternative!

Yup. I was in a procession of 8 riders on the canal yesterday morning. And that was westbound - it was almost a constant stream coming the other way.

Sadly the end of the school holidays makes it obvious that there is a lot more of 'them' around as well. Loads of motor traffic compared to last week

I was one of four northbound cyclists waiting at Gilmerton crossroads this morning. Undoubtedly a small number for other parts of town, but unusually high there.

8 cyclists waiting at the lights on a Roseburn Terrace, loads around Haymarket and the bike racks at work are fuller than I’ve seen them.

This evening I passed over 30 people on bikes between Roseburn Park and Baird Road.

  18. I don't think I've ever seen so may other cyclists before on the NEPN between the Gyle and Leith as I did yesterday.

This is a very good thing!

Roseburn Cycle Group did a traffic count yesterday on the A8 in Murrayfield and the icerink bridge at Roseburn Park.

    At a high level:

52% of vehicles private motor cars (& 80% of those single occupancy)

15% of vehicles were bicycles, 2/3rds of whom chose the convoluted QuietRoute through the park.

Smashed the record for bikes at work today.

193, so I've made a plea to try to beat 200...

  21. @HankChief - Does someone count?

Yes. Not every day but enough to give us a sense on how numbers are progressing.

I've officially converted my friend - from non-cyclist, to cycle hire user to bike owner as of today.

They've only been out for one trip and have come up with an insult for some of the yobs: learn to drive, you'd fit in!

Bit odd; there was a guy this evening standing at Harrison Park, taking photos of passing cyclists. Not a cheap camera either.

Obviously not illegal (unless he's going to sell images of my sporty get-up...) but....why?

At Wester Hailes this evening I was at the end of a pace line (not a particularly fast pace, mind) of six bikes heading along the towpath into town. Things got quite interesting at the S-bend thingy, as we met four bikes in a pace line coming the other way. Busiest I've seen it.

The work bike park had 174 bikes in it today (I counted them), which is also the highest it's ever been for the peak summer holiday period. Now it's true that five of them are e-bikes on loan from Go e-Bike, but even so...

I was passed by three cyclists between Edinburgh and Livingston this morning. Cyclists going between Balerno and Edinburgh are many; cyclists outside Edinburgh are rarer, and cyclists going the same way as me are usually very rare indeed!

The 08:00-08:30 commute on the canal towpath is far more bike-heavy and adrenaline-inducing than around 9.

I was on the 08:15-08:45 canal commute slot this morning which was maybe even busier than earlier overall, but a bit less adrenaline inducing. One more day of this and then back to 09:00-09:30.

The routes were alive with cyclists today. Of course it is perfect cycling weather but on my wee jaunt to West Lothian they were everywhere.
