I may come. If I do come, I may bring a big box of cheap pavement chalk that I got immediately after PoP last year.

I am sadly in London so shall drink a expensive coffee while dressed in my most hipsterish garb, before heading to my meeting on a boris bike. I'll think of you while trying my uptmost to not get squished by some tipper truck.

I have a call at 9 so might work from home, in which case I could hang around until about 840 or something.

Meh, I slept in a wee bit and since a tolerable ride at 7.15 has pretty much become a white knuckle death route by 7.30 I decided to opt out. Next time!

Nice to meet a couple of people at the tail end of the PY late shift - hope the exploding Helios wheel got sorted out!

    Good to chat this morning.

Niall - thanks for the loan of the pump - I've left it with Laid back as I assume that would be easy for it to get back to you.

Laidback - thanks for the loan of the wheel - made it safely would work if a bit late...

    The reason for this scenanigans...

Heading away from PY I got to the blood transfusion place when my front wheel went funny. The studded tyre had come off the rim but not burst the tube - hence a walk back to PY for some solidarity in adversity.

Potentially the beading got stretched when the mechanic was putting the tyre back on - got it back last night.

    Cheers, HankChief - that'll work a treat.

Is this even possible with a wire bead? (I do not think they do studdlies with aramid folding beads) Is it not more likely that the hook on the rim has been damaged/bent with, for instance, over-exuberance with a steel tyre lever?

Exhibit A was taken round to forensics at the Bicycle Works.

Looked at it and reckons it's a combo of having a 1.75 tube used on the narrower 1.5 tyre along with not being seated and the tube not distributed evenly. We got it on evenly again. I can put narrower inner in and keep the wider one for the Big Apple. He doesn't think tyre is damaged. Schwalbe can stand a bit.

Let me know whether you want it sorted and can swap wheel back onto our Helios.

NiallA - pump at shop when you next drop in.

    Thanks Laidback.

If it could be sorted with an appropriate tube that would be great.

I can pop into town tomorrow afternoon to swap wheels back assuming you'll be in the shop.

'Twas a good turn out today, good to see you all and then on my route back along canal spotted farings man on the leamington lift bridge then Big John coming off the aqueduct in a very sturdy anorak and stout shoes plus two orange poly bags inside each other. He was very cheerful in our greeting.
