Does anyone think that, at £100, this Cannondale F800 is going a little cheap?

I had one look and dropped a note to gumtree about a £1000 bike selling for £100. The listing has now been pulled. I hope the Polis have a look into it. Then again, there might be no witnesses so they might not trouble to leave the comfort of the station to investigate.

I went to see this bike today. The ad was actually pulled by the seller when i said i was interested on saturday. It co-incided with the above post i expect.

The bike was not stolen, the original owner sold it to the man i met in Currie as it is broken, there is a massive crack in the driveside stay and the drivetrain is completely destroyed.

He paid £90 to the original owner who did inform this chap that it was essentially scrap and unrideable. The chap i met thought he could just weld it but i have informed him no he cant.

The bike is essentially a write off and worth nothing. He will be selling the lefty fork on it to some man down south.

to be fair to the guy, it was £1000 back when it was new a good few years ago.
And until recently a £1000 bike could be 'bought' for £50 ish from your employer in C2W. Just cause something was worth a certain amount new a long time ago doesn't mean it should have any value at all after a time, condition, wear, market value and opinion all affect these things.

There's all sorts of suspicious, cynical people on the internet like me however who always think people are up to no good when they put badly spelled and vague adverts on a message board demanding cah, no questions asked and with no explanation as to why it would be so cheap...

The internet is a good reminder to us all that some people type how they speak and not how they were taught to write at school (presuming they attended!) :-)
