South of the Red Bridge, group of neds smashing bottles on the path. Absolutely covered. I can never remember how to report this for sweeping if someone else can remind me or be kind enough to do so.

Thanks for the warning. I might come up with an excuse to go a different way home.

FixMyStreeted.
I was going to go that way home, so cheers for the warning. I assume it'll still be there to kick off the path by then, unless the council have a brush-enabled asset in the area.Posted 9 years ago # -
Speaking of the NEPN is there usually that much dog cack in the middle of the paths? Rode it last night for the first time in a few weeks and there were loads of deposits from what must have been huge dogs.

Good shout, I was going to cycle in tomorrow and wouldn't have relished picking glass out of the tyres while walking the rest of the way...

Can someone let me know if this is sorted before Friday morning?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Still there this morning. Rear puncture for me. The bits are too small now to kick off. Path absolutely carpeted just by the "s" bend heading to the red bridge from Craigleith.

Twitter appears to be a good way to report this, but I have no idea which team you'd need to tweet...
Posted 9 years ago # -
Tweeted @north_team and @east_team as it takes ages to find out which applies and they're usually good about re-routing it correctly.

I forgot about this until I was on the way home, went round the bend at a good pace right through the glass. My weekly devotions at the pfairy shrine seems to have worked though my tires are otherwise looking a bit slashed.

Glass on the path beside Balgreen tram stop this afternoon. I'm not on Twitter so can't report it that way.

Glad I checked the site - I'm about to head home along the NEPN...

Glass near the Red Bridge is still claiming victims. It's what got Sara, the cyclist I stopped to help last night on my way home.
@wingpig Did you ever get confirmation from the North Team that it had been swept, or has the worst just been slowly kicked off / embedded & carried away in every tyre that's passed that way since?

Not a peep.
Posted 9 years ago # -
There's a load of new glass just on the townward side of the bridge immediately leithwards of the red bridge (if that makes sense).
Stick to the north side of the path for the best chance to avoid.

I've noticed both my bikes have numerous surface slashes which weren't there last I looked. Sooner or later I'm going to come a cropper on that section too.

North team says a 'task force' is going out to deal with it this afternoon.

No doubt cruising up the path in their Council wagon...

indeed. the first draft of my post said something snarky about verges, mud and tyre tracks but I deleted it....
Posted 9 years ago # -
@SRD Happy to provide the snark on the basis of my witnessing of recent verge mangling and tarmac muddying on the NEPN. ;-)

BRUSH FORCE.
Hasn't rained for a few days so it might be OK.
I need a new pannier-brush, particularly if I want to keep using the Restalrig path, which is similarly glassy and un-BRUSH-FORCEd at the moment.Posted 9 years ago # -
I tweeted WestTeam and NorthTeam about the pea gravel spread across the Craigleith corner on the cycle path. As I couldn't cycle in today, has anyone past it this morning? Have they cleared it up?
Cheers, Dave C

What I assume was BRUSH FORCE was out on the NEPN this morning. Cooncil Transit driving across the red bridge.
Still some glass at the S-bend. Fence still down across path edge at Craigleith.

There's also the bonus tree/bush just west of the blue-sided Newhaven Road bridge on the Hawthornvale section - mostly rotated off the path but there are a few jaggy ends protruding where some more protrudey leafy sections were snapped off - the larger branches are too springy to snap and the whole thing was too entwined to shift.

Since they'd been notified and no action had been taken, the girl I stopped to help with the flat on Wed is billing CEC for the time & materials spent fixing her puncture ;-)
Maybe I should put in for my time too since I spent 25 minutes helping her, and had to treat & wash my reasonably new Gore Windproof top 3 times afterwards as I got chain oil / gunk all over it... :-D

@DaveC I'm not on the bike today, but the pea gravel looked like it had been swept between yesterday morning and my ride home yesterday afternoon.
I still marvel at whoever thought filling areas by a cyclepath with that stuff was a good idea.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Lots of newly-smashed glass around 4.20pm'ish yesterday, covering the whole path as it goes over Crewe Road North near the red bridge.
Tweeted the North Team when I got in last night - no response as yet.

north_team: Profuse apologises.I have spoken to another manager and will be cleared within the next hour. FS

I swept a little bit just Leithwards of the bridge on my way in today - I didn't do the middle of the path (time is money) but if you are a couple of feet from the verge on either side it now goes OK for an arm-width.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Glass wasn't cleaned up last night on the way home and the amount of dog muck in the same area is dreadful. With that and gangs of neds occasionally blocking the path, I'm going to avoid that section of the path for a wee while.
