So, who wants leaflets, laminated posters, handlebar flyers, or chalk ?

It would be great if everyone could put up at least one poster at their workplace, and leaflet, email, Facebook (or whatever), their friends and colleagues.

Let me know if I can get some bumpf to you.

It's a busy time of year, and there's even more than usual going on, but if we all do our small bit, we'll be able to send a clear message to our politicians.

Laminated posters, please. I still have a big ball of green gardenstring. Maybe some handlebar flyers, too, in case my printer gets offended about doing any more.

We could do with about three laminated posters - two for either side of the box of our cargo bike & one for my bike basket. We can take a bunch of leaflets for nursery, workplace and Glasgow Caledonian University (why not!).

Laminated poster please and some handlebar flyers would also be good. I'll send you a DM to arrange collection.

I have a big box of pavement chalk that I saw going cheap not long after last year's PoP, so if anyone wants some, or I can pass the whole lot on to someone, let me know.

I'd like to nab some leaflets for work, if this offer is open to newbies (btw, I think we may follow one another on twitter where I go by my real name!).

  8. Interesting 'bumf' story (or not).

In one particular workplace we had consultants workign from around the world. On one projectw as a chap from the middle east, lovely big bear of a guy, and the project manager on receiving a load of information from him sent an email thanking him for the 'bumf'.

Mohammed hadn't heard of the word, so looked it up. And of course the original meaning is effectively 'tedious material of no worth'. I was despatched to head off an international incident.

I put some posters up at Sick Kids today - their bike racks were seriously packed out.

Haymarket done, where there were at least three bikes per rack-meant-for-two. Waverley tomorrow.

I am going to do the NEPN by the turnoff by the big craigleith retail park junction at some point this week with the SO. I need some fliers though - anyone got any in the west end? I'll put up the banner. Wave if you see me :)

Anyone fancy doing another commuter route? I can bring along the banner!

How about this for an idea?

Would people be willing to set up a POP 'blockade' and hand out flyers to their fellow commuters.

If people could spare half an hour on their way in or out of work we could get the message across to commuters.

You'll know your commute best but I'm thinking here of locations like

    Innocents road crossing
    MMW
    Aquaduct
    Balgreen Chicane
    Craigleith
    5 Ways

Anywhere where there is enough cycle traffic & where they'll be going slow enough for you to hand over a flyer and explain about POP (if required).

Some may have heard of POP from previous years but not know this year's date or they may be completely in the dark.

We can provide flyers and if you'd like to pair up with others put a shout out on here.

As an added bonus you'll have more people to recognise on your commute.

Hankchief do you have any weather proof posters I can get up on the A90 path when it reopens? I've moved house since last year but still in your vicinity.

@ac Yep. Just PM me your address and how many you want & I can pop them over.

I don't have any cable ties just now though...

Piffle, totally forgot to take handlebar flyers to the Commie last night. I do have some with me today to do the bikes at the office and any others I might find.

Every twentieth or so bike in Waverley already had a handlebar flyer for Critical Mass, though whoever did them didn't seem to have noticed the secondary rack-cluster at the west end of Platform 19.

Thanks to everyone who has picked up stuff so far -- I had been cleaned out but more laminated posters, zip ties, leaflets, handlebar leaflets and chalk now available!

Had a good time this morning out with the soon-to-be Mrs ARobComp flyering. It was incredibly enjoyable. Must have spoken to about a hundred riders between us and shouted "GOOGLE PEDAL ON PARLIAMENT" at a hundred or so more!

Those that refused seem to be split into distinct groups

*Not interested in anything and clearly not having a nice morning
    *REALLY LATE FOR WORK
*One dude who was a bit miserable and said "I'm not a fan, Cyclists need to behave themselves too" Which I felt missed the point but there is only so much you can shout after a person who refuses to stop...

One thing I cannot highlight enough is that 1/2 to 2/3 of the people I stopped and spoke to had not heard of POP at all.

Please please tell everyone you know at work and online and at home about it!

Stood at the junction bit of the roseburn path where people come up from leith, in from blackhall, across from stockbridge, down from roseburn and in from davidsons mains. Two of us covering that junction was just enough. There for about an hour and a half this morning from 7:30. Lots of riders. (many flyered were into outstretched hands while moving and had some convos with a few groups)

That sounds very similar to our experiences flyering the Bike Show in previous years. There's always some people who will just refuse anything you try and hand them - of the rest, about half haven't heard of it, and of those most people either very keen or lukewarmly supportive. Plus among those who have heard of it, many are vague about it (including the date) so it's useful to reinforce the message. Sounds like an extremely worthwhile exercise & I hope it hasn't jeopardised the marriage plans too much ...

an alarming proportion of people at the Dr Bike sessions seemed to be confusing POP with the naked bike ride...

Both Mr ARobComp and soon-to-be Mrs ARobComp were still very chirpy at 8.25 this morning when I passed them. I think you picked a good day for it as there seemed to be lots of bikes today.

I put fliers on the bikes in a few of the nearby bike parking a couple of days ago and was a bit surprised that most people hadn't heard of POP.

Nice to (I assume) say hello to you although not sure which of the many cyclists you were! I did get some very strong encouragement from some people so I imagine you were one of those! I think you get to have a "spotted" point although I fail!

There was actually a guy who said he'd "tried to join the forum" but that his email had not worked or something so maybe he'll turn up here. I think he had gotten CCE and POP confused, although I suppose there is quite a bit of crossover!

Lovely morning for writing on pavements... using #PoP2015 but also #WhyIPoP2015 which seemed to be getting some use on Twitter.
