Tom Morton, broadcaster and presenter of one of the most diverse shows on radio is standing down from his evening slot. This Sunday he'll share his last Morton Through Midnight evening show from the 'Zetlandic Archipelago' with people on the neighbouring islands and further afield.
Like many I'm sad that he's going but can understand that his health has not been good recently. Making a radio show with content and humour takes a lot of work. Tom did three in a row every week till recently - sometimes with guest musicians. Apart from the music it was often great entertainment to hear (literally) the weather that was going on in his locale! Tom's relaxed style made it sound easy and his three hour shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights were worth a second or third listen on iPlayer. (Oddly enough I never really liked the afternoon show he did before but think he couldn't always select the music he really wanted to share....)
The MTM evening show had good contributions from his listeners and used twitter and FB feeds very well.
This is how he sums it up in his blog.
Looking back: Some thoughts on the end of Morton Through Midnight
Tune in this Sunday on Radio Scotland at 11pm.
Tom Morton's Farewell to MTM
Sure many here would like to wish him all the best for a good recovery and hope he resumes broadcasting once he's better.
I believe Chdot knows Tom quite well. Tom may even have posted on this forum once about folding bikes?
