    "World record: Ellen van Vugt

404 kilometers of cycling in six hours. That's what the Nijmegen cyclist Ellen van Vugt last Saturday did. This not only crushed her own record, but also the world record for the men, which is 371 kilometers. This means that Ellen for six hours almost 13 km / h was faster than Bradley Wiggins during his hour record for professional cyclists.

In order to achieve this velocity is high technology essential. The bike is a recumbent closed with extremely low resistance and special tires. The design is by David Wielemaker, the man behind the Delft record bike took all the front pages in 2013. The bike was built by Hans van Vugt and Daniel Fenn, two guys with a lot of experience in making extremely rapid cycling.

Ellen gave this great performance on the auto test track in Germany Dekra. The conditions were optimal; a temperature of 25 degrees, almost no wind, cloudy and a bit of sun, but no rain. The team has several weeks to wait for a day with the right weather.

Past notable performances included a world record of 68.973 km in 2004, a sprint record of 106.04 km / h in 2004 and a second place among the men at the 2004 World Cup recumbents.

The team would like to thank its sponsors for their support and dedication during the road to this record. Among others Reliable IT Solutions Mark van de Sande, SRM, Raptobike, Challenge Bikes, Rohloff and natural Elan Hans van Vugt.

Reliable IT Solutions since 2015, the new sponsor of the race team. The innovative IT company of Mark van de Sande makes it possible to purchase ICT services on demand and pay to use, where innovation, reliability and passion are highly regarded.

In September, Ellen goes with her team to Battle Mountain in the United States to make an assault on the sprint record. Here they will face, among others, Lieske Yntema of the university team Delft / Amsterdam. For this competition, the team is still looking for more sponsors and volunteers."

Ellen is the wife of Hans - owner of Elan and Challenge Bikes. We have a Furai from him hanging up in the window at moment.
