I was in the lovely surrounds of Paisley on Sunday, not only to watch the best of Britain's youth riders compete in the national crit champs, but to take some photos and write it up for the Press Room and Scottish Cycling. Bit of a new gig, I've done a couple of rounds of the Scottish BMX Series, which has been fun (and great for photos, as well as getting to know some of the folk involved in the sport that I'm now friends with on Facebook!).
But a British Champs is something of a step up in scale. Brilliant racing, tactical even down to the Under 12s.
Editor seems to have focused on the male winners, so extra couple of pics below, including Jenny Holl, a local rider (Stirling) who won the Category A (under 16) girls race, striking out on the penultimate lap and juuuuuuuuuust managing to hold her lead over the line - was proper, true, heart in the mouth stuff watching. And 30 yards after she'd crossed the line all smiles, she was in floods of tears.
