These have been inching along from the west gate of Herriot watt starting point over the summer. Some nice big patches, particularly on the bad z bend about a mile along. Whole new surface on the second bend and a new drain. Some mild peril as the work sometimes has new sections of hole dug but then left to be filled next day. The holes are not too deep just the layer of tar and a bit more, but sometimes not covering much of the road and hard to spot and other times only narrow strip of raised Tarmac to cycle on between holes. So you have to be careful.

The road will be closed next week (mon-fri) just after a farm road that goes down to the railway line, then continues as old newmills road after the train trAck maybe called gowanhill farm road ( that farm gone now, I used to like it, white building with. Dark green window lintels - it is a steading with properties for sale, never sure about this model where you live in the country but cheek by jowl with your neighbours).

The road reopens just before ravelrig hill. A small stretch of Tarmac but quite a big detour. Up one hill and down the other.
