Once in a while some half-hearted attempts are made to coordinate a CCE pub meet. Most times it gets very complex trying to accommodate everyone's wants and needs and ends up never happening, but on the odd occasion it does it's usually a good night.

I thought it might work if we start planning now for something just after the festival has gone and left us in peace? One evening early Septemberish?

The general theme is usually real and/or craft beer.
It normally defaults to somewhere near the Meadows, although we have headed as far west as Polwarth before.

I just put on a batch of NZ pilsner if that helps? In conclusion: beer - yes.

I should mention that non-beer consumers are also accommodated. Cider drinkers tolerated too.

Once we even went to Diggers which is virtually in west Lothian. Diggers entry in Camra guide used to only be one word - Mecca.

What is the brew dog pub like in the Cowgate? Hemma is very chilled down at the parliament.

I'm up for it though I'm only free two weekends in September. MrsS is away one and I'm away the September weekend.

A bit noisy and lacking in space.

Hemma is very chilled down at the parliament.

I had no idea why anyone would ever want to voluntarily spend time in somewhere so sterile until the bairn and buggy came along. Then it all made sense.

My peer-group was described as "middle-aged" even back in school because we preferred the pub it was possible to have a quiet chat in.

The new place where cargo used to be is the same owners as hemma. Sweedish people. Might be a good option as at end of canal.

Swedish cargo sounds good. The pubs run by the Scottish Swedish couple - most notably Joseph Pearce and Sophie's are all so much better than the old men's pubs they replaced. Now I like an old man's pub but not when it smells of pee etc.

Yup, I was going to suggest 'aqua' (or something like that) too.

Sounds good to me - I think Akva is a bit cavernous, but happy to go with the flow on this.

Anyone want to figure out a date?
    I did a doodle thing http://doodle.com/6f6n8mc3dzh7aa4r

Give it a whirl. I only included the first two weeks as otherwise it gets silly.

@morningsider - I've not yet been, which is why I thought it was worth checking out.

I heard it's been done rather nicely and has avoided SOME of the cavernous-ness that Cargo always suffered from.

Oh geez. I didn't actually double check with the DiaryHolder (herself). Oh well I'll figure that out down the line.

18 votes cast, 13 expressing desire positively, five maybes. This is the poll at the top. Moving to doodle nine people filled in the availability, one of whom was not available at any time. So six of eight saying available is the highest number, 75per cent. That means either 4th sept or 11th or 12th sept.

Akva is the destination. Beer is the game.

BEtween Friday 5th Friday 11th and Saturday 12th.

Anyone care to adjust or change their availability? Otherwise we'll just have to pick one and get on with it.

    Probably the best idea.

Okay. I'm declaring for this Friday or Saturday at 7.

Who wants to change their minds or throw a spanner in the works?
