Not sure crowriver though a google search for "Roseburn to Leith consultation" returns this as the third result not offically connected with CEC. Only Hank (quite rightly) and road.cc (understandable) rank higher. The chipwrapper is well down the list.

For someone so keen on the word 'vision' it's odd that I have no idea what he actually wants Roseburn to be like.

Might be worth sending the officers of the George Street Association (http://www.edinburghgeorgestreet.co.uk/the-association/) a link to the 5 reasons to support the E-W route prepared by PoP (http://pedalonparliament.org/supporting-edinburghs-east-west-cycle-route-five-reasons-in-five-words/).

A nice, rational antidote to PG Tips' ranting.

This guy is a very dangerous individual who clearly has an agenda against anything to improve cycling.

I filled in his survey and added a comment that has the survey was meant to be about cycling that perhaps he should have ways to improve it on his 'cut congestion' list. Surely there is no way any sensible councillor can take this as a proper survey as I would suspect all the other comments will be edited out by PG if they don't suit his warped agenda.

I note he has already stated about it being sabotaged by SPOKES but surely every cyclist is allowed a say!

Well, the George Street Association have been tweeting links to his survey so he's getting his misinformation out there.

@wishicouldgofaster nope, only those who exclusively cycle for leisure: "This survey is aimed at all those, young and old, who don't cycle to work or study or shop at present".

George St traders have been well engaged since the start

They don't need pro cycle track stuff

They need to know they're being tempted by the call of a professional con-man

  9. Perhaps those in George Street need to tell him to "b off - you're not local!"

After all, he & his followers didn't want anyone who didn't live in or own a business in Roseburn to have any say or influence in the Roseburn plans. Why should he therefore have a say in George Street? ;-)

    "I filled in his survey"

Please, people, don't legitimise PG Tips' misinformation campaign by taking part in his "survey"...

You already know whatever you say will be ignored, and your participation will only be counted as a number in the "throng" backing his devious campaign!

Hopefully everyone remembers the absolutely massive 18-month experiment/consultation carried out by the Council. Traders were fully involved, including at 3 or 4 well attended open 'stakeholder' public meetings as well as the 1200-person survey (by an independent survey company). A full report from June this year is here.

The Council is now supposedly working on a George St design based on the principles in that report, and due to be put to the March 2017 Transport Committee. Without re-reading the above document, I think that the recommendations included one-way cycle lanes on each side of George Street, adjacent to the footway (i.e. inside any parked cars) and with decent ped and cycle crossing facilities at each of the roads that cross George St.

Well, that's interesting: the George Street association have deleted the tweet advertising the survey.

Perhaps my tweet to Frank Ross (as a board member of Essential Edinburgh) had an effect.

Hopefully someone will have a quiet word with them about the history behind this campaign.

I sent a reply to them asking if they realised the questionnaire was unofficial and setup by a individual intent on ruining the councils improvements. Perhaps they were unaware of that, I certainly wouldn't put it past PG to impersonate a council official in order to try and accelerate his own demise.

It was tweeted as if they thought it was a council document - "Have a look at Edinburgh Council's plans for new city centre cycle path which will impact on #parking in #GeorgeSt".

@chdot - the Christmas George Street Cycle lane looks quite decent on the plans I've seen.

Yesterday the east bound traffic on Corstorphine Road/Roseburn Terrace was backed right up. It was when I passed at 12:45 and then at 2:30. There was a police car with a flashing blue light sitting near the ped crossing in Roseburn Terrace. I could see no reason for it being there. I asked in Tesco's and the bloke didn't know but did say that is what it will be like when the cycle route is built!

Another bit of anecdata against the "British people don't want to cycle" claim.

I met an ex-colleague last week who is six months into a two year spell working in The Hague. After exchanging the usual work chat, I asked him how he liked living there. Unprompted, he said immediately that one of the best bits was being able to take his kids to nursery by bike and then to cycle on to work. He said the cycle paths are so safe that it would seem mad to drive anywhere around the city. Before moving he'd looked at buying a car there but now says there is no need.

This is a guy who never cycled over here, but is now worrying about whether he'll be able to do so when/if he moves back.

This morning there was a car parked at the junction of Russell Road/Roseburn Street outside the Tesco. Being on the pavement, on double red lines, across the dropped kerb and at the junction was excused by having the hazard lights flashing. I watched the driver come out of the Tesco with a bottle of juice and then heard him rev off loudly down Roseburn Street.

Part of the safe Roseburn Vision route remember.

I can't seem to find an easy way to browse the online EEN for letters to the ed (both to see if PG had commented on mine and to see if they published his response, in which case I'll fire off a counter-response).

    Any tips?

    "Any tips?"

Unfortunately (as you have found out) EN Search is pretty useless.

It's quite possible it never got put online.

Is the EW route being entered? If so, needs to be Option A.
