@stickman
Much respect. I'll bet you made more impact than you think you did.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Yes, well done Stickman, I'm sure you've enlightened many more than you think.
Cheers
Colin
Sound like you did well @stickman. At least you stop it seeming as though everyone is against the cycle path. Sorry I couldn't make it along. Glad to hear the police taking a strong stand against bad driving at the school. They've been outside roseburn primary for several days recently, which is great to see.
"They've been outside roseburn primary for several days recently, which is great to see."
Yes, but what are they actually doing/changing?
Please share:
"The people most likely to respond are those who have already been contacted by the RV group and who are already opposed to the lane."
Due to the association with a specific agenda, they're also more likely to choose options which they think will advance that agenda and convince the council to move the plans elsewhere.
Expect responses from lots of people who would cycle but don't feel there are enough unprotected cycle lanes which mingle with buses. Or from people desperate to cycle into town but can't because there aren't enough off road routes (which don't go into town).
In reality, anyone who picks those options (we have plenty of off road routes and unprotected bus mingling!) should be counted as "I prefer to drive".
London as a whole has raised cycling by 53% in eight years. Not bad. But the new cycle superhighways have seen the same % rise in SIX MONTHS
Advert in the Corstorphine & Murrayfield Grapevine:
@stickman - surely Corstorphinites should be banned from commenting on what only affects Murrayfielders and Roseburners.
Some footage of a protected cycle route in Manchester. Far from ideal design, but it has bus stop bypasses, loading for shops, pedestrian crossings across the lane and the road. Shows what can be done.

Husband used to do that route daily when he worked at MRI. Says that it was pretty unfriendly for bikes before (narrow and lots of parked cars) and looks much nicer now.
We've decided to make the Roseburn Cycle Group a bit more official to help with getting a seat on MurrayfieldCC and with promoting the cycle route.

Have also just signed up.
Joined. Thank you.
And had to check Spam for confirmation email, and while I was looking there I found another one for the Allotment group I had signed up to a month ago, so thanks for that too!
Steady on folks, the Group can only cope with six members an hour.
Me too!
Poor taste joke
Is this a local group for local people? ;-) I don't go that way very much but am happy to add my name to a list if that is useful.
We are registering to be a Local Interest Group so we can get a seat on MCC and help them appreciate that they can't make statements like 'All of Roseburn..." when there is clearly a mixture of views.
We have specifically asked a question on the reason you are joining so we can compartmentalise our supporters.
So please do join even if you tick the 'other' box and do pass it on to others.
Thank you
Great idea as the idea that this street is somehow a special case needs to be challenged.
It is 'special' of course to people who live and work there but I think they need to be part of a cross city look about how we get around.
@edintravel
Roseburn Terrace at Roseburn Street - 3 way lights here today we believe.

TRAFFIC CHAOS WARNING
Aha - that explains why RatrunRussell Road was backed up with cars this morning.
