Was speaking to local councillor at light switch on last night, he is on transport committee and is keen on option b still, as with the other members of his party.

(Found by Googling "single red line Edinburgh"!
I swear I tried this, but didn't find anything concrete. Thanks for posting! So the diagram would still be correct - since single red line is not for off-peak loading.

As predicted, PG has made a video of the delays caused by the roadworks and is claiming it shows what will happen if Option A is chosen.
He doesn't mention that the roadworks were only letting one direction go at a time.
He misrepresents the traffic modelling, saying that it shows there will be huge queues on West Coates. It doesn't - the report published shows a negligible increase in traffic.
He also repeats the "only one lane" myth.
I'm not linking to it - I've watched it so you don't have to.

"I've watched it so you don't have to"
Thanks.

Couldn't help myself. It is, as you say, quite uninformative on the subject of Options A and B, neither of which are equivalent to a hole in the road or a contraflow.
But, oddly, if you listen closely there seems to be a flock of geese being held hostage close to where the narration was recorded. That or it's the noise of the notoriously neglected chain. Or someone squirming excitedly in a swivel chair. Who knows?

@IWRATS: it's his bike. It helped me make a positive ID when I told him that his back light was obscured and invisible as he rode along West Coates without his helmet recently.

"Survey " "results" are out, and guess what - people are against the cycle track!
Here's the link to the latest update:
He's done a rigorous cost-benefit analysis: can you guess what it concludes?
And rather brilliantly, they are now arguing against the new pedestrian crossing as it's superfluous. So the argument goes that people won't be able to cross Roseburn Terrace in one go as it is too wide, yet the new crossing is not needed as there is one 70m away.

@Stickman
69 x £94,000 is £6,500,000. QED. End. Of.

"rigorous"
Is that a technical term?

"the new crossing is not needed as there is one 70m away"
I'm sure the traders will understand the benefits of another crossing - for shoppers and deliveries.

The real horror with this type of spurious calculation and analogy is that it drives out reasonable argument and entrenches camps as 'opponents'. It would take real courage to say 'Six and a half million isn't that much, it will probably work, but it might not and it isn't irreversible if it doesn't'. You'd get crucified, so you fall back on another set of fake certainties.

That's brilliant - looks as though the segregated path would persuade 7% of respondents to a biased survey to switch to bike transport. I say we troll the hell out of him and laud it as a triumphant vindication of Option A!
Posted 8 years ago # -
Perhaps we should instead focus on contacting members of the Transport committee, Transport spokespeople, EEN, etc. as PG Tips has advised: except writing in SUPPORT pf Option A???
Posted 8 years ago # -
@crowriver: agreed, but let's be honest - the decision has already been made. It's going to come down to whether the SNP support their own transport minister or the Murrayfield Conservatives.
Posted 8 years ago # -
I fear the SNP are supporting the murrayfield conservatives on this. Shopkeepers need to park illegally all day or they will go bust.
Posted 8 years ago # -
An astute shopkeeper would never park near their shop, as they are occupying a space likely to be used by multiple customers (and possibly delivery vans) during the time they are occupying it. The fact that some Roseburn shop keepers do this tells you quite a bit about their business acumen.
Also, get used to the Tories and SNP working together in Edinburgh - I have feeling its something we will be seeing a lot more of after next May.

"Also, get used to the Tories and SNP working together in Edinburgh"
Why not? They're already working together at Holyrood.
Council Tax, Air Passenger Duty, what else I wonder?

@morningsider Yup. And cycling funding up the swanny
Posted 8 years ago # -
PG has made a video of the delays caused by the roadworks and is claiming it shows what will happen if Option A is chosen.
Meanwhile, the rest of the city centre was completely free-flowing, due to the limit placed by the roadworks on cars entering the centre.

Chap with a camera and an Atkins hi vis tabard taking pics from north side bus stop towards main junction just now. Atkins traffic management?

CL+ proposals, all way to Gyle
Posted 8 years ago # -
Sustrans have already written to the council about concerns over Option B. If they've resubmitted the EW route for CL+ then either they are going with Option A or they don't want funding for the Roseburn bit. The latter would be illogical given the other project bid out to Edinburgh Park, but TIE.

Getting some pretty rude, intemperate + unsubstantiated emails from opponents of #Roseburn cycleway Lets stick 2 facts + keep it civil folksPosted 8 years ago # -
On the 9am Forth News Bulletin, there was a one-sided piece on the vote on Friday - with a comment from PG - saying it'll cause congestion, as Roseburn had no room for the lane, and Haymarket was an issue too (ironically) siting the fact it's a major transport hub....

J Wood described the survey as “laughable”.
I described it as other things as well but that's an acceptable summary.
