Mmm.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Survey costs more if you want more than 1000 responses, I think. So closed when it got 1000 responses. This may have been made clear at the meeting without getting into the minutes.
That letter in the EEN though...
Remind me again what the spend per house in Riversdale area to protect againt the WOL flooding has been?
On Twitter:-
Cllr Adam McVey @adamrmcvey · 21 minutes ago
"Tomorrow is last East-West Cycleway stakeholder group. Thanks all who gave time & (almost) all for constructive way they engaged in process."
Now who would he mean by (almost)....?
"who would he mean by (almost)....?"
Now there's a question.
Could be more than one person though(?)
The Herald article does frame it as a battle but at least one between local residents, not residents/traders against an over-bearing council.
Also framing it round the London superhighway - I don't think anyone called it that a few months ago. The pictures of Blackfriars Bridge have percolated through.
Worth noting that the documents posted as agenda items are merely a copy of the report given to the TEC a couple of months ago, and amendment as passed
@klaxon - yeah, I was confused by that. I was expecting more detail on option B1/2 etc.
@RoseburnCycle's tweet highlighting the advantages of each option from the papers.
Cockburn Association has Facebooked a letter from PG about his 'survey' (it looks like, I refused to click). If anyone is a member please tell them what you think!
http://www.roseburncycleroute.org.uk/why-option
Please share far & wide, especially your local councillors.
Living Steets are neutral on the options.
One more small point if having to counter the "£6.5m waste of money" complaint: that figure includes £1m for the St Andrews Sq to Princes Street section which has now been removed from the plans.
Small detail but worth noting.
Time stamp shows that Alistair Grant updated the cost in his report immediately after I tweeted him! Pays to be nice to EEN reporters!
I think it's a pretty positive article.
If I've learned anything from this it's the importance of having a local group so the media has someone to go for quotes/a narrative. Good pics as well.

Mr Gregson is planning to lead a protest against the cycleway outside the City Chambers from 1.15pm tomorrow.

Sweepstake on number of bicycles and dogs?
*embarrassed looking* dog I believe is required for these things.
Will he wear helmet and hi-viz?
Will he present his petition for the 4th (?) time?
Will the cardboard signs have the same number of typos?
from 1.15pm tomorrow.
Until when? Maybe he needs a tent village (with no internet).
@steveo - a bike shelter
Can anyone tell me vaguely how long I'd need to set aside if I want to attend the meeting?

So what is at stake here?
At its heart, Edinburgh has a choice between a route that provides direct, seamless and segregated access to and through the city centre (option A) versus one that is less direct and has more crossings that cause, in our opinion, unnecessary conflict in places (option B).
We face a choice between a city moving towards a healthier, more sustainable future for our children versus one that continues to steadfastly prioritise vehicle movement over travel by foot and bike.
We have worked with colleagues across the design, planning and active travel world to review the designs and present our view to the stakeholder group. We are hoping all the evidence that has been collected and presented will allow Edinburgh’s leaders to make a truly informed decision this Friday.
I am optimistic.
I believe that the city leaders will look closely at the evidence on both sides of the argument and make a decision on that basis.
What we have at stake here is important; a city that can be vibrant, healthy, more active and less congested, aligned with the capital cities of other Northern European nations. Most importantly, a city that has people at its heart.

And if not, no money from Sustrans...
Government cash or not, the SNP will surely torpedo option A under their usual modus operandi of "populism at all costs"?
Anyone care to take bets on how much it will cost to redo option B into option A a few years down the line?
@Dave - Humza Yousaf has made some pro cycling noises so SNP Cllrs may be leaned on.
From EN comments (most of the rest are predictable) -
"
Having followed the whole Roseburn to Leith saga over recent months, I think we have to ask ourselves - what do we want? A vibrant city that has people at the heart? Or a corridor you whizz through on your way to somewhere else? Likewise, our councillors need to reflect and ask - are they going to be visionary and go for Option A, or are they going to pander to mininformation, lies and bullying? I dearly hope, in this year of Brexit and Trump, that for once, evidence and reasonableness triumphs over lies and half truths. Please!!

Letter from Lesley to EEN
"I would urge your readers to take account of the facts about the City Centre West to East Cycle Link scheme (CCWEL), rather than be misled by claims made by Pete Gregson of the Roseburn Vision (Letters, Deceber 13).
