Wow.

Well done Lesley (is she/are you a member/lurker here?). That's certainly good news. I'm not sure how option B could be described as a route which best meets the needs of all road users.

Impressive.
I wonder if this will impact on Mr Gregson's standing for election next year?

This comment is from Danger Moose on PG's EEN tripe.
"The real headline here is that the council's cycling targets are achievable and protected cycle lanes are the most convincing way to get there. Regarding the 69 from 1000 headline:
1) As it was only offered to people who don't currently cycle, only 641 answered that particular question.
2) Of that 641 non-cyclists, 175 (27%) picked a first choice which indicated they would cycle if conditions were right. This exceeds the council's target before factoring in those who already cycle.
3) Of this 175 people, 69 (39%) picked protected cycle lanes as their number 1 factor. This is more than double the number who picked any other option. More than 4x if you exclude the unrealistic "weather/hills" and "off road paths" options. The results are here for anyone to read: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5KMIxT11Gd5a0JWSkZjNHpGYnFXM2NzTFJHbi1UMFNfTnFv/view"Perhaps the council should be taking his non-scientific, biased questionnaire which still disproves his entire argument.

Someone pointed out in the comments below the EEN article that the junk shop owner has blocked the bike rack directly outside his shop. I hadn't noticed before but it's true - there's a traffic cone at it and something (couldn't tell what) attached.

One of the Easter Rd junk shops does the same with their night security grille for the window

Mr Gregson is planning to lead a protest against the cycleway outside the City Chambers from 1.15pm tomorrow.

Presumably PG Tips is still trying to find somewhere to park outside the City Chambers.

(So much for my prediction that it would be over in 5 mins)
Note: SG is Stakeholder Group not ScotGov

Aldridge & Cook both supporting A. With the Greens that means it's through, doesn't it?

If I'm reading this right, they're choosing Option A. Right?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Yep. SNP supporting as well.
Fantastic work everyone.

Paul Lawrence has agreed. It's done.
Phew. Time to start rebuilding bridges.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done everyone involved.

Get in. Well done, folks!

Wow! Can't believe it! Well done everyone.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Brilliant. Well done everyone indeed
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done to everyone who did anything - dealing with consultation process, contacting councillors, came on the ride etc.
And SPECIAL thanks to a small number of people who did a LOT. (Inc Cllr Hinds and Phil Noble)

RESULT!!
Crying at my desk.
I didn't realise the Roseburn support group was tweeting so wasn't following. Probably could not have stood the tension. I can't stay up for referendum/election results either.

I don't think we can thank HankChief, Rosie et al enough for all the work and stress they have gone through on this - hopefully today they feel it was worth it! Well done, guys - you are terrific.

This is a very significant day but chimes in with a broad desire to make the city viable for people and families.
Great work by those active forumers.Posted 7 years ago # -

Thanks - I played a modest part compared with some who put in amazing amounts of work.
But invidious to mention names - they know who they are...
Posted 7 years ago # -
Absolutely agree with the sentiments here. HankChief has had a small team of very dedicated people helping him out on this. If those of use who sent a few emails and attended a couple of meetings were feeling stressed by this I can only imagine what they were feeling.
As Chdot says though every email sent, positive comment made or even signature on the right petition has had a small part in this.

Amazing result. There's nothing I can say that would be praise enough for the people that have made this happen.

:-)
Such relief that the hard work has paid off and we will have a better city to pass on to our kids.
Thank you to everyone who has helped. This will make a huge difference.

Awesome news! Looking forward to visiting Roseburn (any excuse for a ride!).
@chdot Are they intentionally going for comedy signs now?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done everyone :)
