@Rosie: yes, being a bit cheeky with that one but if PG can make wild claims on petition numbers then why can’t we?

Should anyone wish to swear at their computer, PGTips response to the authority statement is up: http://www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk/Document.aspx?id=632349
One point he repeatedly makes is that cyclists choose NCN1 over the A8. Well no <rule 2> Sherlock, most people are going to choose the route with less traffic to interact with.

“If you can’t walk you can’t cycle. It’s as simple as that.”
PGTips has spoken. No other evidence to the contrary will be accepted.

Hmmm - I know someone who can barely walk 100 metres, but does a 20km cycle every day.

Marking up the council document in red with long, rambling comments and making grandiose claims from the position of a community councillor while accusing Sustrans of "blackmailing action" - it's an object lesson in how not to get your point across.

I've never chosen NCN1 over the main road, because I have no idea where it is or goes, and the main road goes where I want, on the occasions that I cycle home via my parents house. Same as 30 years ago when I was a student and cycled in from Corstorphine. So, not just young confident cyclists favour the A8

I particularly like that he trashes the BikeLife survey (carried out by professional researchers, weighted to get a representative sample, with the full survey methodology published) to his own “survey”.
Never mind the council, how much time have *we* wasted on this clown?

*clowncil. Get with the lingo.
The hearing should be interesting. Double checked with the case worker and the public can attend on 04/11 and 05/11.

Murrayfield Community Council, responsible for the glacial pace of this project, are complaining about the glacial progress of this project.

“If you can’t walk you can’t cycle. It’s as simple as that.”
When I was waiting on a hernia operation a few years ago, there were days where I could walk maybe 30m, but could have easily cycled 50km (as long as there were no potholes- they hurt).

“If you can’t walk you can’t cycle. It’s as simple as that.”
I can't walk at all but I often reach my target of cycling 100 miles/week.
On the subject of the suitability of NCN1, the zig-zags to reach it from Russell Road are extremely difficult to negotiate in a handcycle and, once on NCN1, I cannot get over the savage speed bumps in Balbirnie Place without grounding my handcycle.
I'd assumed that the dreadful road surface west bound on the A8/West Coates was intended to encourage cyclists onto NCN1.

Spotted the petitioners getting breakfast at the Roseburn Cafe this morning ahead of their appearance at the Transport Committee.

“
Convener Cllr Macinnes agrees with Cllr Cook. She says: “The idea we would have somebody from your group overseeing the work we are contracting is something I have a problem with”. She adds that lots of methods could be used but “the use of an unpaid expert is not one of them”.

Perhaps misuse of word “expert” there...

agrees with Cllr Cook.

With a picture of all four who attended the rally beforehand.

With such strong opposition I feel no choice but to give up and support that the scheme be scrapped.
“Our guy would oversee this survey.” Ah yes, council experts are clearly biased but the guy who moans about CCWEL at MCC would be a bastion of integrity.

The placards look like they've been made by a 5 year old!
ROFL.

Welcome to the post-truth society where any argument is valid as long as you shout it loudly enough.

Can't say the handwriting on placards is a big deal for me - placards are really hard to do well in my experience. But imagine being willing to be photographed with that man.
Most distasteful.

The solution is obvious really. Remove all parking and install full lane protected bike lanes on both sides...

The solution is obvious really. Remove all car access and install full lane protected bike lanes on both sides and a 'quiet route' through the back streets for anyone who has to drive....

Actually if you think about it: He appears to be arguing for a complete ban on vehicles with an internal combustion engine. Who knew?
Posted 5 years ago # -
Mr Art-et-fictions also seems to be worried about the current level of vehicle usage in Roseburn.
