Link under the bypass is...new to me? The one that links to Lasswade Road now.
Thanks for the treehouse link. It was a lovely camp - very well tended and totally unexpected.

Ah yes, forgot about that.
There's new and new.
Been there for 'ages'.
CEC tarmaced its bit years after MidL got to the bridge.
This year it did the widened pavement bit towards town.
Haven't been since finished(?)

As discussed on the Audax thread, had a great loop to the South West this morning, taking in the Autumnal colours and a good bit of sun.
Went out early and saw the sun was rising as I was at near Leadburn but was in the shadow the hills until Bigger. Nice run up the Clyde Valley but missed the turn back down into the valley leaving Lanark but had some good views looking down on the tree canopy.
2nd breakfast at the container cafe in Plains before onto Avonbridge & Linlithgow. The view of the Queensferry Crossing from Beecraigs shows just tall it is going to be. I expect it will be quite sight once finished.
I went the back way round Cammo to Turnhouse as I had heard it was getting resurfaced, but apart for Road Closed signs at the side of the road but not in use, not a lot seems to have happened.
The result of my missed turning in Lanark meant I had to make up miles by going round in circles at the end which was a bit frustrating, but all in all and good morning out.

It was a lovely breakfast - blackpudding & egg roll & builders tea - quick & cheap too. If you are ever on the look out for a bite to eat on the A89 I'd recommend it.

We went round the pentlands this morning too, following same laidback route, but earlier. iT was national bad driving day. Chap in west Linton drove at me instead of going into the leaves but I was able to tuck my elbow in so he missed. West lintonnwas still asleep so we did not stop. Our fast lad took a tow off a tractor and was having to brake at thirty mph to avoid hitting the trailer.
Sat outside the red barn at elsrickle in the sun. Fairly blasted back along the Lang whang with wind behind. But hot in long sleeves and tights.

Cycled out to North Berwick to visit the museum in School Road. They have exhibitions about farming and WW1 "...and there's a dressing up area if you like that sort of thing" the attendant informed me. Also a cafe with cakes though I had no money with me. Felt exhausted cycling home and today I have come down with a cold.

After removing one remaining Schwalbe Winter, fixing two of the three broken of the four attachment points of the rear mudguard, fitting a new rear mech and chain and replacing the rear light terminals I was able to pop out for a scootle on the sparebike which had been sitting unused since the LHT was assembled in March. It's nice to have the option of being more upright and better-cushioned when popping for shopping over cobbles, though something at the back is still very noisy, squeaking with every little impact.

Gloriously bright moon tonight, riding on unlit road at right angle to it I realised how strong a shadow it was casting to my side. Beautiful.

I have just been allowed out for an hour while the turkey cooks. I took my early Christmas present to myself out for a spin on the A70 to Currie and back along the canal. Road busier than I expected. Canal quite quiet, although there was a man in an inflatable kayak who looked as if he was going on a long trip.
Very nice to get out of the house and blow away a few cobwebs. Collected 6 Strava PBs en route and created 420 calories of capacity for Christmas dinner later...

Cross-town without putting my foot down once - nice. Lots of pedestrians out, but roads very quiet.

Daughter out on a bike again today - maybe the Helios tandem though as she ditched her 3 speed at Argyle Bar do last night.
Just reading '1001 bikes to dream of riding before you die'. Seems an odd collection to me - No M5 CHR, Fujin or Fuego! Other reclined models but not sure why. (need to add to Santa present thread).Posted 8 years ago # -
It was only a handful of miles, but it was the first ride since my crash a few weeks back. A long way round ride tae get the rolls!
Wrist was pretty sore on a cobbled section but otherwise is was just really, really nice tae be back on my bike!

Took Micro-Greenroofer (aged six) on his first ten-mile bike ride today. We went along the towpath to Hermiston House Road Bridge and back. We didn't see the kingfisher (but did make an interesting spot at the start).
It was great weather for cycling and he seems to have enjoyed himself. We need to learn a bit about the rules of the road/towpath yet, but that does take a bit of practice...

Enough adults still haven't learned those rules yet either. One today, oncoming at what felt like ludicrous speed, and he didn't give an inch as he sped past our group with a sweary phrase that didn't much endear him.
I did 16 miles with the Brompton group. We did a circuit from Falkirk, visiting The Helix, the Kelpies, the Falkirk Wheel and the canal tunnel.
The train guard at FKK motioned to me "sorry, two bikes on already", which I ignored as I boarded and folded up my bike. Just as well I wasn't on the big bike.

I've previously mentioned I've been attempting a century ride each calendar month this year.
Had always planned to finish the year off this week and spent the last month wondering what the weather gods will deliver.
Today looked the best of a bad lot & I decided to give the gods a helping hand by taking the first train down to Carlisle and letting the wind blow us back.
Managed to stay ahead of the rain most of the way and made good time to Moffat, before climbing Devil's Beef Tub and the fantastic long decent to Broughton for 2nd Breakfast, before the rolling hills of Carnwath & Woolfords saw us home.
Glad to finish the year off and start to plan next year's adventures.

Was a bit mad out the Lang whang today. Storm Imogen beginning with a bang. Apple pie empty when we arrived but two other cyclists came by. We left top the size of the meal (not hard as it is very cheap). They were broken into midweek and had staff tips and three charity tims nicked.
Freewheelin all the way home though

Missed out on the Lang Whang again. Thought we should stay at sea level. Plenty of snow on Ochils though... Nice circuit round and did School Brae in Cramond to check the even lower gearing out that I fitted yesterday.

Actually yesterday, took the mud road route heading west turn sharp right immediately before auchengray. Road quite muddy. Four miles maybe to a cut through which is an old bridge just before wilsontown. Only for pedestrians, and cyclists. Flips you on to the road to braehead, bit of a climb then lovely descent down to the carstairs esker, another climb then down to Apple pie and their new coffee machine. Back Lang whang, head wind but Tom that o was cycling with thought we were trying to catch Jon whereas Jon had taken comfort break at the Boston cottage path. Sunshine often. Good route
Today, lovely time skimming sheets of ice across frozen Harlaw and thriepmuir reservoirs, making them shatter and sing like words going down the telegraph wire.
Farmer will have gone nuts, busier than height of summer, cars parked all over his verges.

My 5yo did a lot less than that - more of a wobble round Harrison park but on his islabike Beinn, so a 'big bike' for him. Started out struggling to pedal - he's used to putting both feet on the pedals before starting... And ended up zooming home 'look at me mum, I'm being Peter Sagan!'

My wee one had great fun on the Prom and around Gypsy Brae track this morning. The humps & bumps were good incentive to pick the feet up and pedal away.

First detour after work of the year last night. First time ascending Arthur's Seat since 2014. First time without gears. Easier than I'd expected!
Capped off nicely with a run down the Innocent tunnel and along Portobello Beach. Lovely.
