I saw snowy tonight on the towpath. No Greenroofer though. He is getting about.

@HC - did I ever mention that I had an Elephant Bike?
They used to be quite rare, but now I hear there are lots of them in Edinburgh...

I know. I tried one recently into and out of town. Very nice it was too.
I got a PB going up Market Street and met Gembo on Bread Street, happy days :-)

...was warmer than i expected, but despite the extra sweat was a nice ride in today, although no pink sunrise this am.
for me thats 2 nice rides on the bounce and 1 early in the week and 1 on sunday, all without any P*nctures or breakages of rims............ happy daysif only i could get rid of this lurgy.

my what a quiet commute home tonight - just a few riders heading south on FRB - actually a nice evening compared to this morning, cool temps and low wind.

despite the howling wind outside and waking up at 5am it was a very nice ride in, dry and warm -
i think it might be venus - it peeked over the distant cloud layer
i'm sure there must be a website that shows current planets - i'll google ;-) (at lunchtimes of course)

Last night jumped on the tail of three fairly rapid cyclists at roseburn...free draft home to Blackhal. Thanks people ... also remarkably few peds and no dugs helped

New loop for me back from Gifford by Humbie. I did somewhere round there with an Audax a while back but always looking for new ways to get back into city.
Fala Dam road (Salters'?) runs parallel to A68. then it's over and on to A7 by Tynehead. Then you get really fast run from just under 900ft into city. Some small roads between Gifford and Humbie to try. Very nice route I reckon.Weather was sparkling. Admired a Flying Scot at the Lanterne Rouge although we ended up going to Goblin Ha' as it was stacked out. Also saw the new Bothy at East Saltoun but didn't go in as too early in ride. With heavier tandem bike it might be ideal.

Lovely morning for a ride - sunny, no frosty patches, no wind, and just a patchy skin of canal ice warning of things to come.
A high-five from Gembo on the canal elicited a startled yelp from the guy who'd been drafting Gembo closely and perhaps didn't realise it was intentional contact - sorry if it was you...

Great view of them this morning coming south on the FRB - one was so bright and flickery i thought it was a plane coming into land.... superb!EDIT:
and a lovely ride in this morning. i pass a set of 3 riders together most morning with a wee "mornin" just after FRB and then a woman on a Specialized who always gives a bright "MORNING!"god how a love riding in instead of driving in!

Had a perfect opportunity to see Venus & Jupiter this morning, but wasn't aware of it until it was too late.
Was my monthly 100km ride and tried something different using quiet roads and very muddy walking tracks across fields in an attempt to boost my veloviewer explorer numbers.
Highlights included a beautiful night sky up around Craigluscar, including seeing a meteor, and hearing a fox and an owl at very close quarters - unfortunately, despite stopping, didn't see either as it was pitch black.

In London today. Travelling from EUS to Tower Hill I took the Cycle Superhighways for the first time. They're rather good, if a bit frantic when busy with bikes. So much less stressful than jousting with traffic.
They take up a lot of roadspace. I can rather sympathise with the critics: they were packed in the morning rush, but deserted when I returned at 1530.

Sounds interesting Greenroofer - i guess superhighways are like roads too, less busy during the day...but good they are there!
i had a weird ride home over FRB from crewe toll - passed no one and no one passed me, very very quiet ride home.

Too lazy to put winter tyres on the usual bike, spent probably just as long footering with the mountain bike, then left two hours later than intended for a wee spin out the WoL to Balerno to retrieve @Sheetoucher's torque wrench. Despite two unsigned-for-cyclists detours (just past the eternal landslide diversion and at Saughton Park) causing some backtracking and rerouting, it was grrrrreat. I think I have finally found the sweet spot of tyre pressure for the WoL, there were a satisfying number of crunchy puddles, and a sparrowhawk flying ahead for a while just past Currie Kirk. On the way home the back of 5 I got excellently muddy before rejoining the road at Slateford. One solitary dog walker at Juniper Green, otherwise just a lovely dark dowhill birl with the path entirely to myself.
Dear me: get better lights, go out in dark more often.

Quite dark the back of five. Was getting dark before four. Apparently there is a rare goose worth two points on my friend Sean's patch west of thriepmuir. He is leading the UK in the year long competition.
