Granites can be accessed via Gladhouse Reservoir road
or Temple /Carrington Both routes involve a massive outdoor conveyor belt (from a quarry I believe)
both nice it is just the bit before that I do not like - Gowkley Moss/Auchendinny
and later coming back into Edinburgh Dobbies Garden Centre etc.
The main road out of Peebles to meldon foot is a bit unpleasant

That is my Gran Canaria beige nylon sun hat. Second only to the fez in my headgear pantheon. One size almost fits everyone.

We had gone on a package holiday to get some cheap sun and go snorkeling, hiking and so on. Reps kept trying to sell us coach tours and pool parties. Until that is I started wearing that hat around the complex. They took one look, smiled and left us alone for the rest of the fortnight. It is a great hat. I know of no better hat. Going off topic. I wore a polystyrene hat to Keswick on Monday. 200 wonderful kilometres starting in the rain and ending with sunburn. Over the middle 100km beyond the granites I saw more bikes than cars. Unfortunately the Eskdalemuir hub was shut so I had to wait for Gretna for an ice-cream.
It took just under 12 hours which I was pleased with. I'll eventually write a blog about it and can link if there's demand.

A combination of bike and Borders rail to the Dacha and back with lunch in Denholm in between. Scorching hot and so hilly, oh so hilly.
