gonna sign up for living streets upcoming turf war against pavement parking instead

if i apply myself diligently, i could rise swiftly up the ranks and become David Hunter's right hand man

Night shift, Sundays with no staff except maybe Benny and Shuggy McPhee on the sauce.

Trivia - which war film does Shuggy feature in?

many possibilities.. hmm.. wasn't John Wark in The Great Escape ? so it wouldn't be that one..

@bax San, I am giving you a McGuffin. John Wark was in Escape to Victory one of the funniest war films ever for many of the wrong reasons.

You could always google Angus Lennie?

Or I could tell you he played Flying Officer Archibald Ives? ANd had a peculiar form of madness which led to him hearing imaginary bagpipes?

@Bax he could have been in Colditz actually

Highlander does have Nazis well guessed @ IWrats

But I think I shall give some further clues though tricky not to give too obvious oneS

    Good luck

@cyclingmollie they know the answer they are just messin

Today on day off we were supposed to be heading to Innerleithen, some world wide game of sardines that some financial people I know were involved in but as there was a need to go to D Mains first I BROKE THE habit of a lifetime and asked for route change on the road. Worked well - D Mains to Bridge, west side cycle lane then up Lovers Lane to the West Fife Railway path. We overshot Longannet to Clackmannan looking nice in the sunshine. Then descended to flood plain and over Kincardine bridge for coffee at the Kelpies then tacked back through West Lothian with tailwind assist. Ended on the Ravelrig Brae which was steep but easier today than 50 miles round Pentlands in wind on saturday

Went round Arthur's Seat and over Braid Hill on @gembo's winter bike to get a feel for the thing, set the seat and the bars and all that.

They go fast, road bikes. Good fun. Got into a bit of a rhythm and even climbed Braid Road en danseuse. Hit the giddy heights of 27mph at the stables speed trap on Liberton Drive despite the sketchy surface. That's quick for me but of course only 2mph over the average speed of Tour de France winners.

When I got home I was bouncing the bike on its front wheel to see if the head bearings needed tightened and a guy on a bamboo bike stopped to ask if I 'had a mechanical'. That a roadie thing?

Yes mechanical is a roadie term

I went up west kip on the Glen Tilt bike this morning. Descent was fast

We then walked the Poet’s Glen, Mount Parnassus, clubbiedean, then Up Torphin hill with fab view down Torduff Reservoir, Castle, Arthur’s Seat , island in the Forth,

That is a bit like when willie Johnson was sent home from 1978 World Cup for taking performance enhancing drugs which did not enhance his performance.

If Nairo is blood doping and falling out the back. What are the rest of them doing?

At one point the Colombians were 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. They all fell out the back. Ran out of smarties?

the investigation concerned "a very limited number of riders and their close relatives who are not employed by the team".

I had a glorious ride at the weekend. Through the Moorfoots to Inners, over to the Gordon Arms then over Berrybush to the Ettrick valley. I follow the Ettrick valley past the village to the end of the tarmac. What a lovely road. Had a good chat with the owner of a house beyond the end of the road.
