@bax San, I am giving you a McGuffin. John Wark was in Escape to Victory one of the funniest war films ever for many of the wrong reasons.

Today on day off we were supposed to be heading to Innerleithen, some world wide game of sardines that some financial people I know were involved in but as there was a need to go to D Mains first I BROKE THE habit of a lifetime and asked for route change on the road. Worked well - D Mains to Bridge, west side cycle lane then up Lovers Lane to the West Fife Railway path. We overshot Longannet to Clackmannan looking nice in the sunshine. Then descended to flood plain and over Kincardine bridge for coffee at the Kelpies then tacked back through West Lothian with tailwind assist. Ended on the Ravelrig Brae which was steep but easier today than 50 miles round Pentlands in wind on saturday

Went round Arthur's Seat and over Braid Hill on @gembo's winter bike to get a feel for the thing, set the seat and the bars and all that.
They go fast, road bikes. Good fun. Got into a bit of a rhythm and even climbed Braid Road en danseuse. Hit the giddy heights of 27mph at the stables speed trap on Liberton Drive despite the sketchy surface. That's quick for me but of course only 2mph over the average speed of Tour de France winners.
When I got home I was bouncing the bike on its front wheel to see if the head bearings needed tightened and a guy on a bamboo bike stopped to ask if I 'had a mechanical'. That a roadie thing?

I went up west kip on the Glen Tilt bike this morning. Descent was fast
We then walked the Poet’s Glen, Mount Parnassus, clubbiedean, then Up Torphin hill with fab view down Torduff Reservoir, Castle, Arthur’s Seat , island in the Forth,

I had a glorious ride at the weekend. Through the Moorfoots to Inners, over to the Gordon Arms then over Berrybush to the Ettrick valley. I follow the Ettrick valley past the village to the end of the tarmac. What a lovely road. Had a good chat with the owner of a house beyond the end of the road.
