First clipped in commute home tonight, if any of you see me in the gutter attached to a red bike, could you tip me back up. :)

It'll be fine, you'll love it... right up to the point you relax and forget you're clipped in ;-)

love em, it was great and no incidents so far *touches head* getting in an out of them is a fairly natural move and it's nice to not have to do all the buggering about trying to get the clip round the right side.
So i'm now officially part of the clip-clop brigade!

So what make/brand did you go for pedal-wise then Stepdoh?

I ended up going for some Crank Bros. Smarty pedals. I had a code for Chain Reaction so they ended up about £16, which I thought was a bit of a steal.
They're really easy to get in and out of too, which is also a bonus!

Ta. I was/am thinking about trying out some spds so any advice/tips/best brands etc is all grist to the mill. Price is, of course, a consideration, and was thinking nothing too expensive.

Been clipping in for about nine months now. Went over a couple of times in the early days until I adjusted the tension on the clips (slighly looser on my left foot which I unclip first) Then this morning at Crewe Toll roundabout I slowed right down for the traffic to pass but had one eye on a Taxi which came all the way round the roundabout and turned off without indicating once. Of course I hesitated a fraction of a second too long trying to see where the Taxi was going and I tipped over. Thought thise days were long gone. Only damage was to my pride, don't you just love Taxi drivers!

Again the tragic roundabout! There is something just wrong about crewe toll, maybe it's the size of the roundabout and and the number roads that meet it that's the problem, it just seems an almost constant pressure point for cyclists though.
Think that's the good thing i'm finding about the crank bros ones, is the complete lack of adjustability!

So I've been more attached to my bike for two months now, a nice patina of rust is on the screws on the cleats and I'm now a master at the little foot shimmy.
Overall I'm sharing the experience of nearly everyone in thinking it's a great move, not only better power transfer and not wasting the upward strokes etc, but I actually feel a lot more secure on the pedals, particularly taking off at junctions with one clipped foot.
The ice over the last wee while has been a good test for it, and again it's not really felt much unsafer, and in some cases not having to worry about what your foot is doing keeps you on a more even keel. Although there have been certain stretches where i've kept one foot free.
I'd heartily recommend.

I was going to ask how its going, pretty much the same for me, had my third 'oops Im clipped in' moment yesterday so all cool now, Ive been really glad that my feet cant slip off the pedals too.
