We've posted this before, but this time we're serious. POP is taking its toll on the band of organisers and we do need to recruit fresh blood (it's possible I may not be selling it all that well...)

You don't have to join the full-on POP core team (although we need that too). We need a t-shirt supremo, which is a nice self-contained job, and we need as many people as possible to volunteer for a stint handing out flyers (and stickers this year) in various places around town, which could be just for an afternoon or even a couple of hours.

If you think you might be able to help, email hello@pedalonparliament.org for a no-obligation chat.

You have nothing to lose but your social life, and everything to gain...

More details (and kaputnik's brilliant new poster design) here http://pedalonparliament.org/new-poster-and-pop-needs-you/

PoP Flyers and Posters have arrived in Edinburgh. I will be distributing as many as I can this week. As usual we will have local hosting spots (mainly bike shops) where there will be extra large bundles available for re-distribution, and pick up as you want them.

If you would like a delivery of a bundle for you to distribute to your workplace or other location then let me know.

We would like volunteers to distribute and put up posters at the following:

    NHS buildings including ERI/Western
Edinburgh University (all or some campuses)
    Heriot Watt University
    QMU
    Napier (All or some campuses)
    RBS
    Bank of Scotland
    Lloyds/Tesco banks
    Edinburgh Council Offices
    Sports/Leisure Centres
    As many cafe's as possible
    Village halls/Community centres
    Supermarkets
Any other suggestions you might have..

Laminated versions of the flyers will follow soon. We'll let you know here.

Handlebar flyers are already downloadable here

If you are interested can you reply to this, or PM me,

If you do pick up some from bike shops and get them up somewhere can you let us know with a photo (tweet @popscotland or Instagram @popscotland)

    Thanks
    shuggiet

I'm happy to cover Heriot-Watt University again this year.

Has anyone ever tried flyering on the towpath? I might be willing to give that a try, although it would be more fun with somebody else (and easier to cover both directions).

  5. Who's distributing flyers in the Roseburn shops?

Well, they are keen to show that they aren't anti-cycling

@jdanielp.. Great for HWU. Yes, we have tried flyering on parts of the towpath. Best location has been at the Slateford Viaduct at commute times (morning or evening). It would work pretty well if you have more than one person there.

    @Stephan - you volunteering? shouldn't be a problem given they are so-pro cycling. :-)

I can take a big stack and pigeon post to anyone in the Ed uni system, if they let me know what they want/need.

I can do kings buildings. Can you send me some stuff please, SRD?

  11. @shuggiet Why not? Only problem is I live too far away and don't go there a lot, but if I visit the zoo in the next two months I might drop into the shops and ask them to post it in their windows...

Shouldn't be a problem. Some of them (and their friends) have bicycles.

We could definitely do with as many people as possible putting in a stint at peak cycling time in peak cycling spots handing out flyers - it's always been very effective at flushing out new people & reminding others that it's on.

Not just in core Edinburgh too...

I'll take some handlebar flyers to my office.

I'm also happy to do the Haymarket racks, but I do pass through quite early and quite late, so if someone is there at a time to catch more bicycles (or take a second run at bikes I have missed?), that would be better.

    I have pavement chalk...

@fimm I'm only able to do Haymarket at lunchtime. No harm in a second sweep on the same day to get whichever weren't there on the first.

Will email soon once work stops trying to grind me into a sticky pulp and I know what my time looks like for the next couple of months!

We should have stickers now to give out which say 'I'm going to POP' - the idea being that if you stick one on your bike you won't get flyered again. And also because kids (including quite big ones) like stickers so it seemed like a good plan.

@wingpig that should work very well.

I have heard that B&M homestores (branches at Seafield and Meadowbank and elsewhere) has GIANT footway-chalk.

    Good tip about chalk.
Our pile is now smaller so we'll need a top up.

I'm wondering about posting about POP in other cycling forums. I don't actually read any apart from this one, but for those who are regulars in any vaguely relevant forums it would be fantastic if you used them to spread the word (if that doesn't breach that particular forum's etiquette). I think it's always more effective coming from someone who posts regularly rather than someone who signs up just to advertise something.

Hello CCE-based PoPers. If you joined the Slack group but haven't logged in since before Christmas, this is a plea to do so.

Don't make me have a meeting all by myself. That would be SAD.

I appear to have stopped receiving notifications of all the new activity on the PoP channel as the Leith Walk armadillo intervention channel set itself as my home. Is there any sort of forcible-nudge thing to everybody registered on a particular channel/thread?

@wingpig not that I can find. Best I can see if if you're a channel OWNER you can see everyone's email addresses and could prod them that way. But I'm not an owner in the PoP channel.

PoP Slackers - if you aren't getting notifications, planning meeting looks like it will be Sunday 21st, after 4pm.

Probably 4-6 but please go and input, later times also possible. Hemma might be the venue of choice. (Alternatives with more coffee are also possible.)
