parts of Morningside Road are already coming apart.

Not only that, the gas main works on Comiston Road are progressing. But what gets my goat is that CEC had only just mended the upper half, by the school, only for the gas people to come along and dig it up again!

And, they're only repairing the holes they've dug - there are sections towards Morningside that are crumbling and subsiding as though it was going out of fashion, and those bits aren't even being touched despite the closure of the entire lane.

Is it a lack of project coordination, a lack of money, or both? Many owners of large non-domestic buildings will postpone this project or that project until such time as one of them becomes essential, at which point all of the disruption to staff can be reduced to a single period. But by the time you have that opportunity, the non-ringfenced funding has evaporated and only the essential works are carried out, thus wasting the benefit of earlier repairs.

Saving money through minimal maintenance until catastrophic failure occurs seems to be how we work, these days.

Signs up along Whitehouse Loan that it is going to be shut for the next 4 weeks for resurfacing between Warrender Park Road and Strathearn Road. Perhaps they will do the rest of it later, hence the 7 months noted earlier in the thread.

Looked at the signs again and realised it's the other half, from Bruntsfield Place to Warrender Park Road. Which is the bit I don't use, so hopefully they will resurface it all over the next few months

They seem to have closed off a major cycle route (top half of Leamington Walk) for no obvious reason to do Whitehouse Loan surfacing.
