Bus stop outside Scottish Widows is quite busy around 5pm. Buses often wait there, presumably for change of drivers, which doesn't help traffic.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Thanks stickman, only ever down that way in the morning.. Canal was hoaching tonight at 5.15pm as I managed to leave work at reasonable time. Aqueduct heaving but everyone in good spirits.
I went to north Berwick in maybe 1990 on an old eastern Scottish bus as wait for it, there was no train service on a Sunday. Can that be true?
My mum (of good Highland stock) remembers the play park swings in Partick being tied up on the Sabbath out of deference to the local wee frees.

"How long till the bus garage at Musselburgh is shut for good? Those services obviously working out of the Marine Garage."
LB have also taken over Musselburgh depot and it's being kitted out with LB specific infrastructure to automatically download ticket machine data, so there are no plans to shut it.
@ Stickman , quite possibly true, the area beyond Dowanhill above Partick heading west parallel to clyde was a dry area. Maybe it was even called Partickhill Very unusual in Glasgow. Obviously, one could roll down the hill for a drink.
It looks rather less like the bus "ploughed into" the shelter and more like it got too close the kerb and caught the overhanging canopy at slow speed as it approached the stop (see impact mark on top right front of bus next to the route number).
Although looking at the streetview photos, it does kind of seem like he'd have to mount the pavement to be able to clip the canopy as it's far enough back from the kerb.
"does kind of seem like he'd have to mount the pavement"
Aiming for a rogue cyclist??
I think the nose of the cab could sweep round and catch something without having to actually mount the kerb. In much the same way that cyclists & pedestrians can be caught out by the unpredictable turning patterns of such large vehicles.
@dougal, very good point, nose of the long bus will swing over the pavement given the relative shortness of the wheelbase. I can't imagine that a car might have been parked a bit close to the bus stop causing the driver to approach with a sharper-than-usual turn.
"In much the same way that cyclists & pedestrians can be caught out by the unpredictable turning patterns of such large vehicles."
Poor situational awareness from the bus stop.

And we're off! Our first service bus from Musselburgh depot is on its way to pick up passengers. Happy Sunday. #ecb

The number of bus routes in Scotland has fallen by a fifth over the past decade, while passengers have endured inflation-busting fare rises, it has emerged.
Taxpayer-funded subsidies of £2.6 billion have been paid over the past decade to private operators like Stagecoach and First who continue to make huge profits.
"
Labour should have the SNP over a barrel on this subject.
There's a bitter irony that First grew out of the ashes of Grampian Regional Transport, Aberdeen's version of LRT, and both operators grew by swallowing up the recently de-reculated and de-nationalised divisions of the Scottish Bus Group.
The historical context of how First and Stagecoach came to dominate bus services in Scotland. Stagecoach started as a cut-price coach operator and grew rapidly by first out-competing the hamstrung competition in the Scottish Bus Group on deregulation and then on privatisation by acquiring some of its most profitable parts (Fife and Tayside Scottish). By acquiring Northern and Highland, alongside Tayside and Fife, they've got dominance in everything north of Dunfermline, with the exception of First's home territory around Aberdeen.
SMT / Eastern Scottish was the jewel in the crown. First got their hands on that, Lowland and Midland Scottish so came to dominate east and central Scotland from the border to Falkirk. They then set about dismantling the less profitable parts of the network and have been pulling back ever since to a centre of gravity of the most urban parts, mainly around Falkirk and routes to/from the Borders towns.
It's notable that despite the 40-odd years of public ownership of the vast majority of Scotland's bus network, no serious attempt was made to integrate it properly. The ex-Corporation operators, with the exception of Strathclyde which became a PTE, concentrated on their former cities, leaving everywhere else to the components of the Scottish Bus Group who acted as regional monopolies very much in the guise of their predecessor companies.
Note that prior to nationalisation, SMT controlled Alexanders and between them they controlled most of Scotland's buses outside of the Corporation areas. SMT was in turn controlled by the railways. As was Macbraynes.

COUNCILLORS have come together to dismiss claims that the Capital’s bus service is under threat.
The move comes after representatives from union Unite suggested that Lothian Buses was at risk after the city council struck a new agreement with umbrella body Transport for Edinburgh (TfE).

"A new bus fare has been introduced in London allowing passengers to make a second journey for free within one hour of beginning their first."
"
A COMPANY owned by Lothian Buses is under investigation by a business watchdog after a rescue package saw it take over bus services in East Lothian.
East Coast Buses took on the area’s services last month after they were threatened with closure by previous operator First Scotland East.
But now the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) is probing the move due to fears it could make the Lothian Buses subsidiary too dominant in the market.
"
IF LB has broken the law (far from certain), it shows how much 'competition' in public transport isn't always in the public interest.
"fears it could make the Lothian Buses subsidiary too dominant in the market."
I suppose they would prefer NO bus services at all? That. after all, was what was on offer from the "competition".
But now the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) is probing the move due to fears it could make the Lothian Buses subsidiary too dominant in the market.
But it was fine when First was utterly dominant?
Is this not just a formality that the CMA are obliged to "investigate"?
Caused traffic chaos on the way home. Polis directing traffic at ardmillan junction and then stopping cars at Hutchison crossroads though interestingly this second later polis said I could cycle passed the burnt out bus. I was heading to Markies for some matter paneer so had to filter through the car diversion. After buying the tea I went along WoL path then up onto Lanark road. Fire engine parked up at entrance to canal before the footbridge.
