    Colinton Road - there were plans to install a bus lane city bound from Redford down to the railway bridge. The newish pedestrian crossing at Meggetland is 1 lane out of town, 2 lanes city bound.

    Agree with "traffic evaporation". The Haymarket junction is one example where roadworks reduced the demand, then when the road works were removed 2 lanes were missing and nobody noticed

    @Klaxon - interesting ideas - suggest opening your ideas as a new thread?.

    CEC had a plan to ban all buses except the 35 from the Royal Mile. Not sure what happened to that plan.

    Calton Rd / Leith St junction - CEC is punting this as a drop off route for waverly station users. New Street is/was due to be redesigned as part of Caltongate. think the south end will be blocked up.

    From my own selfish point of view the plan would channel more traffic through the already narrow Cowgate. Sections of pavement are only 80cm wide.
