    SUZANNE FORUP (Welcome Suzanne):

The Bike Curious Family Workshop is back at the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling on 19 June (10 til 12)

    http://www.edfoc.org.uk/events/event/bike-curious-family-workshop-2016/

This year we'll be at Bangholm Outdoor Centre as the playground at Sciennes Primary has been developed.

I'm looking for lovely families on bikes to come along again and talk to people with children that would like some advice on cycling, and to check out their equipment. Can anyone help me?? I can offer cake and eternal thanks in return..

    CHDOT:

I'm sure you'll get lots of takers.

I presume you'll be able to confirm that the gate from/to the NEPN will be open(?)

Hmm. The morning after Ride to the Sun. I might not be in fit state to show of our set up.

A great event and I do like to talk about our experiences.

Think I'll need to be a potential... Unless I can come up with a plan involving large amounts of caffeine.

We should be able to be there, i think. but our tandem's pretty ancient now and perhaps not the best marketing device!

Might be able to turn up with a CoPilot, an occupant and a rubble-sack to make a pretend occupant with.

"...and perhaps not the best marketing device..."

"Look how much you'll use it!" might work. Maybe not mention how many times it's been into Laidback for maintenance.

I'll punt the event page from edfoc to Leith Community Crops in Pots on Facebook to see if any of the cargo-trike wielders could demonstrate one.

I will try to be there again with the trailer but can't promise - that day's a bit tricky.

I'll advertise it on the bug and at work in general though...

@algo, If you are looking for a night ride which doesn't clash the (original?) night ride run by edfoc will be on the Friday night.

I'm afraid I wont be able to make it this year as it's also moved day. I would be happy to lend any of the below kit to someone to show off on the day:
    Wicker Bike seat
    Tagalong
    Hamax smiley
    Hamax sietsa
    Child trailer
    Tagalong

I also have a Cargo trailer if it would be of interest.

I may be able to come along. I will check with my social diarist.
    I can bring:
    Hamax child seat
"Followme" tagalong - which generated a few questions at PoP

I can bring the Yepp Mini and Miniature Yeppist, the problem we found last year was that anyone under 6 feet tall really struggles to get on the bike we have it on (and that's with the seat as low as it goes), so they just had to watch us cycle the boy around! The Yepp Mini also struggles to go on any bike without a tall Dutch-style stem that doesn't have zero reach and without wide Dutch-style handlebars. You'd be hard pushed to use it on a lot of bikes.

Could also bring cargo trailer if people are interested in seeing how you can get enough groceries / nappies / beer / timber / topsoil home to support a family.

I read this as 'Family Worship' initially. Suitable, if it's to be on a Sunday

Thanks everyone! Looks like some people will be able to make it - please do encourage others.

There will be lots of coffee and cake for anyone riding through the night! And everyone else..

We've changed to a Sunday to fit in with other activities at Bangholm that day e.g. our all ability cycling sessions. The side gate to the cycle path will be open - it's something we've been working on with our colleagues at Bangholm for a while so it might even be a new, wider gate..

Afterwards find some lunch and then head for the cycle speedway at Redbraes Park @2:00(?)

Thought I'd give this a bump...

Have made a plan with Biketrain to bring multiple family options.

We hope to have with us

    Circe Helios tandem
    Burley Piccolo tagalong
    Trailgator + towed bike
    Revolution tagalong
    Downtube mounted child seat
    Double kiddy trailer

& a large flask of coffee.

Hope there are plenty of potential converts to talk to.

Keen to see the other options, especially Chug's FollowMe.

I don't suppose anyone wants to come to Dumfries on Saturday 2nd July to show off their family rig? We've got a few folk with trailers, tagalongs and child seats but Dumfries's Only Cargobike won't be around and afaik nobody's using tandems ...

Hankchief, do you want to borrow the wicker seat? It mounts onto a bikehut bike rack. If I remember correctly it's the same rack you have on your hybrid.

I think you have the rest of my kit covered.

hello everyone! Looking forward to seeing cycling families tomorrow, I have fingers crossed for no rain..

Bangholm Outdoor Centre is at the end of Craighall Gardens, off Ferry Road and can be accessed of the cyclepath too - the side gate will be open.

We'll have a Dr Bike, some lovely fabric bunting to decorate bikes, a skills course and a Play on Pedals trained tutor on hand for anyone that wants to move from balance bike to pedal bike. And cake! See you at 10am I hope : )
