So there was a sign on the serving window saying that the boat is shut on Mondays.

24th June is last Friday of the month when we generally congregate
Chap told me his dearest beverage was £2.20
I did have a double espresso in my beloved apple pie the other week and was charge £2.40. I think what I received was two espressos. It was very nice and only 60p for the rhubarb pie.

HI Folks,
I'm Ali (skinny bespectacled guy) who runs The Counter with my wife Sally. We are both very keen cyclists and we really appreciate you considering using the boat for your meet-up.
Opening hours :-
Monday closed
Tuesday - Friday 7:30 - 16:30
Saturday & Sunday 9:30 - 16:30At the moment we are selling coffee and cake but plan to do some hot food once we have jumped through some council hoops and my first baby is born (we are on due date +2).
Our most expensive item is Hot Chocolate @ £2.40 and our flat white/large coffee are £2.20 all food items are 80p.
The article that was posted above is not us but its my friend Ben who runs Out The Box in Inverleith park.
I have got the date of the Meet up as the 24th and its in the boat diary.
I will endeavour to be here on the 24th to say hello but with the baby due I cant completely guarantee it but I'm sure Mike, Ines and the rest of the staff team will look after you.
We plan on keeping some basic bike tools a pump and a few inner tubes on the boat so any suggestions for what common sizes and tools you think we should have
Any questions please get in touch
Ali

Cheers Ali, fingers crossed then for good weather, for us and indeed the baby.
We should ask our friend at bike team in council about cycle racks opposite you.
Hope to see you on 24tn

Hi Ali - thanks for having us, hope all goes well with your baby.

I've never managed a PY but I did go to Zazou a few times and enjoyed the company. The Counter is barely a 50 yard diversion from my normal commute so I may get myself along on the 24th...

I might not even make the boat coffee this Friday as apparently there is this vote the day before and my work need extra hands in a certain office in case some "fit hits the shan" at least I think that's what they said, it was a rather rushed message, you might even say panicked...
Still might be able to make it for 8.00am to 8:02

The forecast is looking fine for Friday morning.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Well it was until the app refreshed. Hmm.
Posted 10 years ago # -
No showers on BBC until 10a.m. What are other providers predicting?
Posted 10 years ago # -
That's what I was using so if it stays like that it should be fine. It's just they are gradually creeping earlier...

I'm working from home o Friday, but I think it would do good to get out the house and up for a coffee before logging on for the day. I might bring the co-pilot if he's amenable to it.

Will try and look in. Got a trike hire but should have time to come over.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Yes rain creeping back, will try to get there early
Posted 10 years ago # -
Now it looks like it should be pleasant tomorrow morning. I will hopefully be there by around half eight for a bit.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Aiming for before 8
Posted 10 years ago # -
I think I will try for 750-8AM ish. Updates to follow.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Made it at 748, despite cash machines giving me the run around
Posted 10 years ago # -
Then I met you just before 8 then loads of people piled in, was a good meet up, maybe still going on
Posted 10 years ago # -
Good to see some usual faces and some new.

Been hoping to come long to one of these meets for a while, thought today was they day. Instead I lay in bed listening to the radio, cycling through states of denial, anger, bargaining, and depression. Acceptance has so far remained elusive.
Wish I'd just got out on the bike and come for a coffee.

"Guy in the deck chair"
You mean there was only one?!

That was a very enjoyable trip to Edinburgh's riviera, despite an understandably sombre mood. Nice to see everyone and meet new people, and be introduced to an extraordinary piece of art and craftsmanship demonstrating the talent that lurks quietly within this forum...

I especially enjoyed seeing the art swap!
Posted 10 years ago # -
@unhurt
It was your ear-rings that reminded me to effect said swap!

If weather fair we should always go to the boat? Better I think than PY? THe owner Ali is keen cyclist too.
Posted 10 years ago # -
I was there first.

But things soon picked up. Impressive turnout.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Was a good turnout with a fair turnover.

Well that was a pleasant diversion from an otherwise grim morning's contemplation. I'd vote for The Counter over PY.
