I feel a request to meet Michael on the next family shop may be in order to ask him how things are progressing.

Got angry again at these signs last night. Makes me question, "Why do I even bother going to Sainsbury's?"

Who puts up these signs and do they even know what they mean? Why have an advisory sign next to a mandatory sign both saying the same thing?

  4. Is that private land (so presumably unenforceable)?

I have been boycotting them for ages as they clearly don't care about cyclists.

My first gripe with them was their drivers parking in the ASL at Stockbridge. I complained several times to both Sainsburys and the police - both did nothing.

The cyclists dismount sign was the final straw. I am sure I read on this forum they promised to provide a proper safe cycle route over a year ago.

You read it just on the last page of this thread. There was a positive message from @Duncan who went to a meeting along with a Spokes rep and the store manager made the right noises. Since then - nada! Sainsbury now my 3rd choice supermarket.

Did someone not say that as it is the curtilage of a building it isn't covered by the land access rights. Or were you thinking unenforceable for another reason?

Went past there again a couple of days ago. Still no action whatsoever. Typical corporate reaction - make the right noises, then do nothing and hope we get fed up of complaining.

Interestingly, during the recent 'snow event' I noticed (from afar) that the car parks and delivery routes were fully cleared of snow but the 'pedestrian' routes were completely untreated.
So it looks like their willingness to cater for pedestrians is only slightly greater than their willingness to cater for cyclists.

Wondering if anyone has any up to date info on the status of these 'Cyclists Dismount' signs on the way into Craigleith Retail Park from the NEPN? I am bored of getting abuse from pensioners for cycling through (extremely slowly and giving way to pedestrians) and don't particularly fancy taking the longer and riskier road option. From reading this thread it seems Sainsbury's put them up but shouldn't have??

I’m still boycotting them for that and their drivers parking in the ASL at the Stockbridge store.

Tweet from Spokes which includes an email to them from a cyclist.
