Potential snow was the only topic of conversation amongst the colleagues who are already wearing jackets and coats when they pop out of the office to buy their lunch. Almost. They're quite keen on talking about association football and stuff too, but they did mention snow. The question is, will it be cold/damp enough to go straight to full-insulation also-suitable-for-snowboarding winter gloves or should I go intermediate and order some SealSkinz waterproofs?

had the MTB road checked recently so it is hanging up ready to go, all that needs to be done is to transfer the lights over and that will take 5-10 mins then it will be Roseburn path both ways to avoid the roads
was thinking about snow plough designs but would be hard and slow work and being selfish I want to get to work in a sensible time...

Forecasters have predicted this week will see the first snows of winter for Edinburgh and the Lothians, with temperatures due to plummet over the next four days.

You've got some mountains to cycle up then? ;)

To make sure I cycle on a gritted route to work I'll be taking a route going via the City Chambers.

Actually my plan is to stick to the main roads, right down the middle of the St Johns / Corstorphine Road / A8 green lane should do.

I did that last year and ended up tramlined down the greenways with no way of swapping "lanes" between the huge grooves formed from the bus tyres, this was fine until I caught up with the bus which very kindly cleared the road for me.

Saturday looks like "proper" snow day. If ERC riding is a no-goer will don my thermals and take the camera out for a spin.

Would you not be better riding the bike?

"I believe the problem has something to do with the fact that Seattle rarely gets prolonged periods of snow and ice. That prevents drivers from having to learn how to drive on slick roads. I witnessed multiple crashes last night that happened simply because drivers were going too fast."

Strange that the video then shows a group of people shouting at a driver to drive faster to get up the hill.

That's a shame. However should there be any decent coverage of the white stuff I think we should definitely have a winter snow ride around town <insert hefty "it's at your own risk" disclaimer here> in search of one or more warming cups of tea/coffee/gluhwien and helpings of cake/apfelstrudel

Woo-hoo - I look forward to resuming snow cycling!

Came home from hospital yesterday afternoon with 12 hr old infant and as we climbed the tenement stairs 4 yr old asked 'now that junior's out of your tummy can you cycle again'?
