IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 14years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Can we make a date poll? Think first two pairs better for me...
Your wish is my command:
Thanks SRD I was avoiding due to not being able to go last time due to abiding by the poll results
ah. sorry. forgot about that gembo. I think that as planner, you are allowed to skip pure democracy.
"pure democracy"
Oxy moron(?)
As things stand I can go on all the nights proposed as I omitted the nights I can't go
'rule-based democracy'?
Hard to have d without r?
"9th or 10th June"
I suppose we'll have something to talk about - which may or May not be a good thing.
Oh wait - NOT the 9th for me as I'll probably have been up all night on the 8th swilling wine and swearing...
Off with bike & tent to an as yet undecided location later in June.
9th & 10th I'll be mtb C2Cing from Fort W.
Sounds Fab!! (The C2Cing, wish I could join you...)
Can someone keep the post up to date please? I can't keep up with these posts and inevitably miss the drinks as I don't have time to read every post to see where the final date was decided.
Cheers, Dave C
Isn't The Waverley still shut following the owner's death?
@JDP it's just been refurbed and reopened.
I can't do the early June dates but don't let that put you off going for them. If I am feeling left out I can organise something for July at some other hostelry.
@kaputnik good news. I can possibly do 2nd, 3rd, 10th or one of the latter dates.
The doodle poll shows neck and neck between 2nd and 3rd June. Norman Lamont is coming
According to the doodle, Theresa May also now joining Peerie Norman. They can have their own table.
Friday second one ahead of sat third, regardless of Theresa or Norman
but do they do any decent beer?
"
Spotted pub reopened last night. Looked great, will be in soon. Is upstairs room book able. Like in the olden days.? Don't need whole space just reserve some tables for a social with city cycling Edinburgh
"
I didn't see the poll earlier but it's now filled in. First Friday may yet be doable, but I would probably arrive somewhat late.
@chdot, that is a punter's Facebook page, but Caledonian Heritable the chain who do up old pubs to look like old pubs (in this case I think they have merely restored it to what it was like before rather than a template old pub) are happy to merge into that page, or let it continue.
Lot of beer, the space behind the bar is large so fair few kegs. I will do some further research. The coffee is very strong though.
Going to close the doodle Friday as if we are going for the earlier options that leaves a week. It is a draw with nine each for 2nd and 3rd, I am discounting Norman and Theresa as they are free both nights and are I think made up?
I have filled in the poll, though that does not mean that I shall definitely come...
Thanks fimm, we will not hold you to it, you may well get a better offer.
Table booked (corner table) for 7pm Friday 2nd June, further voting alas will not be counted.
WAS MOST POPULAR in doodle.with 14..5 votes. (jdanielp might make it late) sorry if you cannot come but obviously you might change yer mind either way
There will be music on that night. The craft beer real ale is in bottles only. Deuchars, schiehallion, Arran and Joker. The Guinness looks good and they have Havana club seven year old rum so I am sorted.
He could do a buffet for us but I am feeling disinclined to organise that.
They do very good pies (mince and Tattie pie, another I forget and veggie one) again would need ordered. They have a pie and a pint for £7.50. The pies look like the greatest pies on earth from simple Simon in biggar but are in fact replicas.
It is just a boozer. But I like boozers. F you decide you like it tooyou are most welcome to attend a recitation on 16.06.17 of the cyclops episode of Ulysses by James Joyce, by err, me. Just the juicy bits. 3.30 - 4.30 then ride out to Balerno with me for the movie bicycle thieves. Looks like we will have the membrea beer cycle. You cycle fast enough you win a membrea beer. They are all over the place just now
I'm sure it is a great place gembo, and i'll try to make it, but that's a distinctly uninspiring beer line up.
@srd sorry about that. They do serve yu a gin and tonic, or in my case a tonic in a crystal glass, which makes it taste lovely.
It has just reopened and is not exactly rammed with customers as yet so I guess they are looking to avoid waste. I imagine once we all make it our local the real ale festival will begin.
Google this time
The night out is this Friday 7pm at the Waverley Bar top of st Mary's Street on left if heading north. Nearst bike parking might be down Cranston street at the council HQ?
We have two tables reserved upstairs. There will be live music the craft beer is bottles only the food is Crisps.
Hope you can make it along
@gembo
Thanks for inspiring and organising, my plaid-bunneted cycle homie. Alas I must now be sober in Forfar that night, where I will be contemplating evidence that it was in fact the Picts who invented the modern bicycle chain.
Had I been able to attend I was going to incite a discussion on the possibility of an end-of-year CCE award ceremony with prizes for all.
shame
I won luddite of the year at Fietsclub Balerno club dinner
Beacuse I think the two following things are not all good
Strava (some good some bad)
Whatsapp (Ok in welsh valleys with no phone signals, otherwise a pain)
