The Place Standard Tool helps to "structure the conversations between planners and communities necessary to design healthy spaces and places".

    "
There is a wealth of evidence that the social and physical environment influences health and wellbeing outcomes. The places in which we live and spend time influence health outcomes and contribute to increasing or reducing health inequalities. Individuals living in areas of deprivation are more likely to be exposed to environmental factors that contribute to poorer health outcomes, such as poor air quality, and less likely to be exposed to environmental factors that improve health outcomes, such as natural space.

The Place Standard is designed to facilitate structured conversations to assess the quality of places, based on 14 themes that are important to health and wellbeing … The Place Standard has been designed for use by multiple user groups, including the community and the public, private and third sectors.

Cycling and walking, and sustainable travel, fits in with most of the themes.
