fun sleeping in one of the old forts?
Nice, that's just reminded me to look out the sites of some of the hill forts that pepper the area.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Holy Island verboten for camping but I'd chance it in the dunes and claim tidal stranding. It is lovely.
See also Sandstone Way. Would love to ride that.
the tags in this thread are good
we hired the bunkhouse (very cheap) at Cragside near Rothbury where thios route gpoes through
Hadrian's Wall and Sandstone Way and Holy Island not in the south east of the borders (if borders used in the sense of borders region) if borders is used to mean the actual border between England and Scotland then the wall is still quite distance in to England, and would need the land owners permission to pitch in those places(in theory)
By my reckoning Thowliestone Hill Fort is within about 1km of the halfway point between Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Cheers cb that looks like a good shout

@ John Leslie (or Swanys or Old Bell).
Three Line Whip may yet be instructed for key members.
@iainmcr, great boozer, snob screen side or public bar?
@ Gembo - CCE is pretty highbrow....
That's why I suggested it. Nothing but the best for our denizens.
Is the "John Leslie" the same as Leslie's Bar on Ratcliffe Terrace? Not far from The Bike Station?
(Iain McR - message recieved. Will get back to you.)
@Fimm - yes: Google Streetview shows it's called the John Leslie, presumably after the Blue Peter and Wheel of Fortune presenter.
Different John Leslie. Estb 1896? that is what the sign says. But the pub is known as Leslie's. So you are both right
there's only one John Leslie!
Anyway. That's the right pub. Mr fimm can make it. Not sure if I can, but you don't really need me...
you don't really need me...
Hey, come on. Stay for one?
I have to pack for the weekend. Also getting somewhere at 7pm is more problematic for me. On the other hand, if CCE's very own Forum Author is going to be there...
;-)
i am expecting some spectacular Minutes.

Three Line Whip not instructed. In keeping with the latest fashion, its a free vote.
Just noticed the last bit from Peebles is the opposite of the exploration trip I did a couple of years ago.
If you see my badgers at Romano Bridge say hello for me.
You have personal badgers?
If we could all swap our personal demons for personal badgers things might go better.
Badgers change their bedding very frequently I learned latterly.
You have personal badgers?
Doesn't everyone, how do you get alerted when there are axe murders around if you don't have a badger patrol!
iwrats the philosopher, steveo the fool
Mr fimm will be along. Please look out for him and try and look a bit like cycists ;-) I really don't have time to come, I'm sorry.
I'll put my bright green jacket on prominent display.
Mr fimm is on his way but will be late.
Mr fimm was very charming and put up with our nonsense for quite a time. Thank you!
I am in trouble with Mr fimm for not mentioning The Book...
