Had a peek at Beinn A'Ghlo in the passing this afternoon. Excited at the prospect.

Also, I have prototyped a new Midge Protection System which will be unveiled there and then.

Where and when am I meeting people

Technical answer: NO 00051 85551 from 17h00 on Saturday the 15th of August 2020.

Social answer: I thought you kids organised that stuff with your telephones? I expect to be leaving Old Bridge of Tilt after an early lunch. You'll recognise me by my full-suss bike with integral frame bags and ultra-light overnight kit. (Also impeccable grooming and fashion choices.)

I was planning on the train to Pitlochry but there is currently only one train per day so may be taking my car. If that's the case I can take one passenger and a lot of bikes.

As ever I'll have an old hybrid bike and be towing a caravan.

Out of interest, IWRATS, what bike are you using that has full suspension and space for frame bags? I am finding it difficult to find such a bike that is also large enough for me. Contemplating the merits of getting a DH bike and slamming the front for XC.

Might be better with an enduro bike, much lighter than a DH bike but still capable of riding big stuff and you can ride it up hills.

    @Arellcat

Sorry, but I was being silly for @unhurt's amusement. I will be on a pink 29er hardtail with a trailer. Full suspension and frame bags are not really my style. Also my grooming and fashion choices are frankly questionable.

@steveo I have transport. Am bringing my mother* in her car.

*not on the cycling part. She is having a very short holiday in Blair Atholl to replace the one in Florida she was supposed to have had.

Did you even invite her on the cycling part?

@steveo - I would be interested in cadging a lift if one was available. Doesn't seem to be a public transport option at the moment. I can supply petrol money - my rank chat comes for free.

No problem morningsider, one advantage of taking a passenger is I have an excuse to park closer!

@Steveo - nice one. Don't park closer on my account, although given my current fitness somewhere about 100m from the campsite would probably be best.

The track in from Braemar to the RV is doable by family saloon. I'll ask our local youtz for a loan of their bolt cutters.

The mother says she'll come up the glen if she can sit in the bucket of a cargo bike.

Is there some place to swim on the proposed route(s)? Have yet to look at any sort of map...

I've dropped a line to Atholl Estate to see if there will be firing on the rifle range that weekend.

Right bank is the best bank bullets permitting.

The rifle range will be in use on Sunday, so the weaklings like me can go out up the right bank and back on the left bank.

    Big loopers gonna big loop.

Not be out on the right and back on the right? Relatively speaking.

Banks are designated with respect to the direction of flow. You look downstream and the left bank is on your left. The right bank is on the right.

So each bank is named independent of the river's twists and turns and your peregrinations.
