I'll be starting from the Aviemore station. I'm just checking my trains.
Hmm. 10am from Aviemore means a slightly ealirer start than I'd like but the next advance ticket isn't till 1400 and that's a lot of time in Aviemore.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Currently annoyed w/train bike space faff, may borrow the car* back from @sheeptoucher and drive. Otherwise, train out via Carrbridge, back probably via Aviemore. Btw what time on the Saturday are we gathering at Feshie Bridge? This affects travel plans.
*technically possible to get two bikes in back with a lot of shoogling & swearing (it's a Clio).
I'm trying to decide whether to negotiate for our car. Also cba with the train faff.
In reality I can't see a gathering at the Feshiebridge before 14h00. I like to get the tent unrolled shortly after 17h00.
I think those are compatible aims.
If @unhurt and I were to share a car, be it mine or hers, how many folk are left?
I'm resolved to be able to ride 50k by then... Not sure when I'm going to start "training" mind.
potentially me (if I buy a tent, sleeping bag, pannier rack, other bits) between now and then.
I'll try to get the car then it'll comfortably take 3 but we might need to scrounge a 3 bike rack that'll fit a hatchback from somewhere.
All wheels can go in the boot so I don't need a wide load escort.
Right used some household capital and secured the use of my car.
My dad has a three bike rack but I think its quite old and not sure how well it'll handle the bike bikes of unhurt and Iain McR.
I have a hatchback Rack you can have. Not used ever.
@Iain McR
Sorry about the late notice on this ride and the consequent rush to acquire camping kit.
@gembo
Does this mean you'll be coming along on the three-speed?
@steveo I will confer once I've sorted out if @sheeptoucher wants to come too - said he might.
Right you are @unhurt
OK so this is getting closer. Exciting.
In light of last weekend's jaunt above Loch Lyon I think the 45km route starting at Nethybridge and crossing the Ryvoan is probably a bit ambitious for me and madame. So we'll be doing a 25km route starting in Coylumbridge;
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/2087453425
but that shouldn't put off anyone fancies adding the delicious 20km through Abernethy NNR. The shorter ride means I can ride even slower and pack even more junk into my trailer and that means a wetsuit and a swim at Feshiebridge.
I've e-mailed the estate to let them know we'll be camping there and to ask if the bothy will be open.
Hope the wee stone people going you the good weather. I am still not cracking.
@gembo
If you appear from over the Geldie watershed on your three-speed wearing a Panama hat we will all be in awe.
Just got a note off the estate - the bothy renovation is complete. It may well be busy but that's an option for non tent luggers.
That's good news. I'll likely not avail myself this time but it's on the list for future trips.
I'm going to leave this here.

In totally unrelated news decided I'll go with the solo tent rather than bivvy.
Boring technical question...
How "gnarly" is the track? The current tyres on my mtb are fantastic for trail centres but very soft and pretty over kill for land-rover tracks.
So I'm going to get different tyres but not sure how knobbly to go.
Gnot gnarly at all. One 'technical' kilometre over rutted earth otherwise gravel, stones and Landrover tracks.
I use 40mm Schwalbe Land Cruisers. Bomb-proof brutes but very capable.
Cool, I'll just get something mild.
I’ll just leave this here

the b-turtle launched will be available this summer and is priced at €2,990
I've got a Hilleberg Akto in a £69 trailer off Amazon and a few thousand Euro left over for beer.
You coming along on the ride @neddie?
"and a few thousand Euro left over for a beer."
Ahhh I see you're visiting norway as well?
**cries**
O @ARobCOmp, did you forget to pack the wineboxes?
How are we doing for transport?
@steveo
Excellent question. I'm lifting Madame and @Morningsider north, leaving Edinburgh at 08h00 for the 2h40 drive.
Anyone got a spare Thule-compatible bike carrier they could lend? No biggie, I'll just put Nath's bike in the boot otherwise.
could always sling it on my rack at this rate is only going to be me using it.
Shall I see if I can find space for the wee woodgas stove and some marshmallows? I'm guessing the estate frowns on open fires...
