    What is 'woodgas'? Is it a drug? If so, yes.

    You are welcome to inhale it, though if you're fond of any nose hairs you might have it might not end well.

    It is a truth universally acknowledged that no one is fond of nose hair.

    Overnight Capables junior section.

    (@IWRATS - I have a Thule roof carrier if you're still looking, you'd need to collect from the Porty area)

    @urchaidh

    That is most generous. You will have a PM in a moment.

    Re: Saturday night. I'll be expecting @Iwrats to tell the story behind this (much earlier) aside:

    I once drank my own urine by accident. True story. Just a sip. Won't happen again.

    I'm away up Friday morning now for a wee side trip to Pattack Falls & a Friday night outside Nethy Bridge in a tent at a place called the Lazy Duck.

    Only if conversation flags (which seems unlikely). It's very dull.

    I think he's going to ambush the weakest of us and sleep wrapped in our pelts.

    For the avoidance of doubt, despite the similarities, I am not a tauntaun!

    I like the way we're now considering drinking morning coffee from each others' skulls. I expected no less.

    Thought I'd sling a new drivetrain on the bike for the weekend. Looks like Shimano are serious about killing eight-speeds. Had to buy bin-ends off E-bay as normal suppliers no longer acknowledge the existence of anything but 9, 10 or 11 speeds. Already got a 9-speed rear mech.

    The implication is that a year from now I'll have to dump a perfectly good pair of shifters and downgrade the bike to 1 x 11 to future-proof it. So sad.

    Back wheel and main bearing should be worn out by then if everything goes to plan.

    Participants may wish to acquire a copy of this map and a compass if they don't already have them;

    https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/shop/explorer-map-cairn-gorm-aviemore.html

    The whole way from Nethy Bridge to Ruigh Aiteachain is on the one sheet. It's quite possible to get lost in both Abernethy and Inschriach forests. The Landranger maps won't help in either place.

    Sleep kit
    tent
    sleeping bag
    roll mat
    dry clothes

    food
    evening meal (optional)
    if evening meal = true then stove/pot

    wine
    whisky

    Missed anything actually survival related?

    Midge repellant.

    In fact, I'd put that at the top of the list...

    Midge net might be a good shout, I've got enough smidge to share around. And if there is clouds of the bs I'm zipping my self in!!!

    Things that can be found in abundance on-site;

    Water
    Midges

    Anyone not bringing a head net and gloves is about to get a harsh lesson. Repellants are overwhelmed in that place.

    You're really selling it! Just as well tents are thin, I can talk to you all through the canvas.

    It'll be brilliant, but nip to Tisos and get a head net?

    I mean the bothy might be empty, who knows, but I do love a spot of outdoor wilderness drinking.

    If you're struggling for time Decathlon is five minutes from my house, we can make a quick pit stop before heading northward.

    Oh I have two headnets....one adapted for use with a telescopic sight. I'll be leaving that where it is.
