    ADMIN EDIT

    POLL OVER

    FRIDAY 13th

    Be there

    ........................................

All welcome, you don't need to have been before / posted much / enjoy alliteration.

Poll to narrow down suitable mid/latish October dates is here:
    https://doodle.com/poll/kbnedekckpv68iic

Suggested time of gathering: 19:15 until whenever
    Suggested location: The Holyrood 9A

(I've cunningly omitted the date I can't go because I'm going to see people dancing in tights.)

That runs right across the school half-term. no idea if we'll be around or not. have put my best guess as to availability. planning that far a ahead a bit ambitious for me.

I've voted, though to be honest it is probably unlikely that I'll be able to come.

(the footwear you cruelly mischaracterise as) that freaky shoe/glove thing now belongs to @condor2378.

Clothing not optional. Headgear at will.

Frock coats and flying helmets acceptable.

Tomorrow morning - or after I get up to Orkney, depending how organized I am! I may have to privilege dates when gembo is available since he's the reason for the season this time.

Now if i could just work out how to put SPDs in them I'll be sorted!

I met a guy in eastern Quebec riding a tourer and wearing a pair of Vibram 5 Fingers - he said he'd toured round South America for 6 months wearing them and found them really comfy! No straps or anything, just flexible foot gloves and flat pedals.

So is sliced bread comfortable to cycle in or does it make better pedals?

Right, polling ends now. Taking into account the "maybes" are in some cases "probably nots" the auspicious date is hereby proclaimed to be Friday 13th.

    I might book a table.

Anyone inviting our new cycling champion? I hear he wants to meet the cycling community

    Dress code is as above:

Clothing not optional. Headgear at will.

Frock coats and flying helmets acceptable.

(Meanwhile, I don't want to discourage opportunities for activism, but this social activity was mainly designed for beer and me experiencing gembo's tale of suits told with sound effects & possible interpretative dance - is this definitely the face of The Edinburgh Cycling Community we want to introduce him to first? I'm not saying it might mot be an accurate face, mind.)

It is always playing on one of the turntables in my head, Neil Ypung is on the other one

I am also going to buy a tape deck and start making mix tapes again. Walkman only costs 16.99

Now I'm in a damp self catering apartment in Kirkwall listening to Like A Hurricane on YouTube. I hope you're happy!

(the problem with mixtapes is what to play them on now if given one. I used to have a car with a tape deck but it went for scrap in 2012)

@unhurt, yes, I am happy for you, like a hurricane is a good old track.

Well, what to play it on? I suggest a Walkman for £16.99 off the internet like what I am talking about :-)

[it's October now so bumping this as a reminder]

    When shall CCE meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?

    When the hurlyburly's done,
When the battle's lost and won.

That will be ere the set of sun 19:15. Friday October 13th.

    Where the place?

    The Holyrood 9A

There to meet with CCErs (hey!)

I now have D9015 headgear as well as the generous Lets Ride tabard - in line with my metallic namesake should I turn up in 2-tone green?

I'd also need to be carrying the number 50A... 9A is Longsight

If you come in fashionable attire inspired by a train that might actually make my whole year.

Friday night approaches. Be there* or (logically) be elsewhere.

*October 13th 19:15 at The Holyrood 9A. If up to 14 whole people are coming I should probably book a table...
