On the way back to Edinburgh this afternoon I passed the aftermath of a serious incident on the A70 near Tarbrax. There was a car on its roof across the road and at least one person on the ground under a blanket.

There were several people with bikes standing around, and it wasn't clear if they were assisting or had been involved in the incident. I do hope the incident wasn't bike-related.

The police arrived at the same time as me, there were more sirens in the distance and several people already assisting, so I made my way carefully past the upturned car, carrying the bike over the shattered glass on the road and trying to block out the sounds of moaning, sobbing and retching coming from those involved.

A sobering sight. My best wishes for a speedy recovery to all involved. I do hope it turns out to be less serious that it seemed to be.
