    Are Conservative councillors trained in making disingenuous statements? Do they have national away-days where they get together to discuss how best to make ridiculous claims? And is the Bristol cycling lobby more All-Powerful than the All-Powerful Edinburgh cycling lobby?

    A council spokesperson said the £280,000 figure includes other aspects of the Whitchurch Road improvement project, including the completion of a shared use path from West Cater Road to the existing path into Crox Bottom and a new zebra crossing.

    The price of demolishing the bridge is estimated to be around £35,000, compared to the £12,000 annual cost of maintaining it."

    Oh, wait - he's worried about traffic flow and pollution:
