Got some spray chalk or giant pavement chalks?

Want to indulge in socially responsible non-permanent graffiti?

Quite like bikes and approve of PoP?

    Then I have a plan!

    Step 1:
Meet 16:30 outside The Bike Station this Saturday armed with your chalks. One lucky person will be entrusted with the shiny new PoP Spray Chalk Stencil.

    Step 2:
Head off together to chalk bike paths en masse OR split into teams and head off to chalk bike paths not en masse.

    Step 3:
(Re)convene at for a well-deserved pint / fizzy juice / tea at a venue to be decided by participants.

    Step 4:
Bask in the warm glow of a job well done / Edinburgh's early summer / moral righteousness. (Those with evening commitments can move directly from Step 2 to Step 4.)

Do you have extra chalk to share around?

    It only just occurred to me that 'spray chalk' must actually exist because people keep talking about it. And it does;

Want it tomorrow, April 20? Order within 9 hrs 13 mins and choose One-Day Shipping at checkout.

And I say that as someone who hadn't bought an aerosol since she was 15 ... sometimes you've got to let one principle give way to another

I am sat currently about 3 minutes walk from Cass art. Shall I pop in and grab some cans?

Is there a logistical grid or a downloadable GPS-enabled mobile telephone application that shows which messages should be spray-chalked where?

I have a free CEC bike path map. And a fluorescent marker.

(and we may be able to mark what has been done on a Google map layer)

I'll try and add existing chalkings to that beflyerèd shops Google map layer posted on Slack before 16:30 on Saturday.

(Argh my next day delivery spray chalk order didn't go through for some reason. So now it's arriving on Monday. Old-school chalking for me.)

Someone has chalked a few points from Leith Links and along the Restalrig Railway Path but has done so along the path and not across it

Put your hand up, person who didn’t take a moment to consider you need to stop to read these chalkings from a bike

@Klaxon I've plenty more chalk if you want to help rather than complain.
I've also chalked a few points on the WoL, Inverleith Park, Roseburn, Innocent, Lochend Park, Holyrood Park, Roseburn Park and one on the Balgreen path if you'd like to go and inspect them for sidewaysness

No, those two on the Restalrig Railway Path by the Hawkhill and Restalrig Road slopes have been there a few days and probably need refreshing. There was one packet of giant chalk left in the Seafield B&M a couple of days ago.

Restalrig chalk was mentioned by a friend of mine of FB who doesn't cycle, so it's getting noticed.

I cannot make this saturday anymore. However I will donate my spray chalk to the cause. Will make arrangements.

Yes. Akshully could do the KB pavement safely - I guess that's where 90% of QBiC sufferers end up?

The arrangements have been made. The Contract is sealed. My chalky sacrifice has been laid at the alter of the most Historic of Environments.

Existing chalked locations are now in their own layer in a Googlemap.

I am also warming to the idea of sideways marking

Chalkings are kinda hard to read when moving!

    1 to 5 added.

My rationale, particularly on those by the Seafield path slope/Findlay Gardens slope/Hawkhill slope/ForthQuarter park junction, was that they'd be more readable to people approaching from the slopes, and equally readable to people going either direction past them rather than upright for one direction and inverted for the other. It's also easier to keep an eye out for people approaching from either side when writing them.

Chalks added at the top of Calton Rd outside BHF and the entrance to the temporary cycle lane at Greenside Row
