  1. Spent some time getting my original commuter back on the road. Worth every second spent on it, looks and rides superb:

  2. Best February riding that I can remember. See below for a summary. Includes a really cool strava map.

  3. Even with the costs of repairing an old bike included, the cycle commute is still only just over half the cost of driving or public transport this year (up to end of Feb):

  4. However enjoyable the cycle commute is, sometimes a bit of determination is needed:

The video in that last post doesn't play for me.

  6. @iwrats: hmmm, it seems fine for me. Meant to auto play when you view it.

Yes, in firefox, I see "No video with supported format and MIME type not found." - but opening the video file directly in firefox seems to work.

  10. Some days you just make the wrong choices.

Some video comparisons with this time last yes we.

  11. 3 idiot drivers tried to take me out this week. Thankfully they failed, but here's my post about them:

@cccc, Mercedes, bmw and jag. Nice collection of bar stewards.

The Highway Code has actually been written for these exceptionally long cars (I note the BMW was both long and high, what a Richard).

So the Highway Code now says if you drive an Audi, BMW, Jaguar or Mercedes you MUSt accelerate on to a roundabout without checking who has right of way. It is essential that you do not check who has right of way.

This rewrite of the Highway Code is what has spurred me on In My development of The Crusher.

The Crusher takes a car above 3metres in length and shortens it to 3 metres. For the above brands this is done with the male driver in the driving seat as let's face it they treat their cars as penis extensions and The Crusher has been designed to specifically remove penis extensions.

  13. There was a rather sad end to my front light yesterday. After 2 years of companionship we may never be together again.

  14. It's always good to have nice food to eat through the day. However, this was very disappointing this week:

It's almost as bad as when I took out my oaty breakfast muffin out of my pack at work and found a chunk of it eaten out by a mouse overnight.

    Posted 5 years ago #
  16. Oh that's bad @bill.

Do you mean you have mice at work or in your rucksack though?

@cc.cc This one was at home. I used to pack the muffins in a plastic bag and then into my pack in the evening and leave it on the floor -- not very smart as it turned out.

I once left my Camelback with the nozzle on the floor and a mouse ate it at night, getting a flood of water in the face for its troubles.

  20. I was reunited with my Volt yesterday! Also, new cakes and a stupid close pass by a Megabus driver...

Shocking pass from the bus driver.

    Posted 5 years ago #
  22. Thanks, not sure what happened with the link.

The road was unusually quiet which makes the close pass even more stupid.

Dreadful. Looking at the road markings, I reckon the car was as close as the bus. But the way the bus proceeds to squeeze you out is particularly lethal.

  24. Really challenging week, but getting through it was very satisfying.

@CC.CC That bus pass was very close... It's awful you have to experience such things on a daily basis.

Well done with getting through this week despite all the weather challenges and food disappointments :)

  27. There's not much better than a quiet, smooth bike. Sadly mine has started making noises. Looks like some maintenance lies ahead.

  29. So, I complained to the company involved in the close pass in the previous blog post. They replied with a grovelling email (could be stock response, I don't know) and pretty much begged me to take the video offline.

    Does anyone think I should?

If they convince you that they've done something about it, yeah, I think it'd be good to acknowledge that by taking it down, or perhaps making it private and giving them the link so they can show other employees as an example of what not to do...
