    @chdot - indeed

Saw this up on RWGPS the other night. There were comments on YACF regarding a previous iteration of the Edinburgh passage, including from myself, but they don't seem to have taken any of them on board.

Supposedly the Edinburgh section is an 'advisory' route as opposed to the rest of the route being mandatory, but that remains to be confirmed.

Biggest blooper for me is routing riders down the FRB on ramp which is technically illegal, I think (you pass a No Cycling roundel & are directed to the east cycle path)

    Here?

It's slightly ambiguous - possibly only applies to the footway? But then you'd normally expect a "Cyclists rejoin carriageway" sign.

And I'm not sure the little ginnel off Polton Rd is even rideable, never mind suitable for 1000+ riders...

Presume they have permission to use FRB and access(?)

@Frenchy yes. Continuing on the footway might be a sensible approach. But the RWGPS track takes riders right down to here, which almost guarantees some unfamiliar with the layout will venture on to the bridge carriageway?

    But

"In 2021 our route will travel north of Edinburgh and cross the old Forth road bridge to Dunfermline. The bridge is almost traffic free now”

Presumably the intention is to go ON the road??

    (Am I misunderstanding something?)

    SitRep 07.30 Monday

@Bill (LB15) made it to Malton 367km just after midnight and I assume has rested there before tackling the 113km to Barnard Castle.

@Acsimpson (S45) got to Hessle 300km at 5am having had a tough time in the heat / headwind yesterday and has split from his riding buddy, when he took an extended rest at Louth.

Still a long way to go. Keep going both.

(Does anyone know @Murun's rider number?)

Hi, just seen this - my number is G49. Currently having 2nd breakfast in Hawnby.

Sympathise with acsimpson’s issues - I had a loss of appetite and and aversion to normal water after Louth, dragged myself to Barton upon Humber Coop for a peruse for alternatives. Milk in rationed amounts is currently doing it and appetite is back

FWIW, it is ridable, as I've done it a bunch of times in both directions, and the gradient is about 16% with no steps, but no, it wouldn't have been suitable as it's also quite narrow.

Rider 174 is going over the Forth Bridge now?
    Seems very fast.
Bill checked through Malton at 00.40 - edit Hankchief had covered.
Heat headwinds and appetite loss not making it easy.

Check riders here - some of the CC crew past Barnard Castle now.

    LB15 / G49 / S45

A16 is going to be arriving at Innerleithen soon.

Survival on a bike rather than speed is the theme for most!

Rider 174 now already an hour south of Innerleithen. Still averaging 24km/h. But seems rider 166 as @EdinNightRide reports on Twitter is even further ahead?

    6pm Monday update.

@acsimspon has regrouped with his riding partner and both have just made it to Barnard Castle (480km)

@bill & @murun (separately) made it to BC around noon and we can assume once fed & watered (& I hear @Bill had a massage!) are working their way over the Pennines to Brampton a further 113km & 1200m of climbing away.

Due to roadworks on Yad Moss the route has had to divert over 2 of the highest roads in England (Chapel Fell & Killhope) so times for this sector will be slow.

I was considering going out to say hello to rider 174 but even after 500 miles I'd not be able to keep up.

Wonder what motor Bike their riding :).

Well done to the CCE contingent, this forum must have the highest concentration of head cases out side of the nra discussion boards.

Due to the X62 I went for not accepting bikes, I've diverted to the train, and without any station being particularly convenient for Innerleithen, I'll be riding over the granites in the dark on my town bike with luggage.

Still, won't be as bad as the lunatics coming up from London and then turning South again...

@hankchief - that is over and beyond.
Special award for dedication. Marks off for Borders Buses.
Seem to see 'this bus takes bikes' a lot... but not when you really need it!

50 riders through Innerleithen so far. Only another 1400 to go!

@Bill got to Moffat around midnight, with @murun following at 6am.

@acsimpson was at Brampton at 1am.

    Keep going all.

Saw about 20 heading towards Inners at around 0830, near Temple on my commute, including one SBR rider.

Do nearly 1500 people do LEL? Blimey! I knew it was quite a big event but I didn't realise that it was so many.

@acsimpson is currently at the Apple Pie Bakery.

@Bill is due at Innerleithen imminently.

    @murun southbound from Dunfermline.

Still only 122 through Innerleithen and we are bracing for large numbers of sleepers tonight as the next sleepstop is Brampton in Englandshire
