    @LaidBack

There’s at least one recliner still going. Canadian pilot I think, was walking his steed up Killhope Cross

Lot of Bromptons in the start waves on Sun, big Malaysian fan club I think

There was a Japanese rider on a Moulton as we were both struggling to get into it this morning

Asked Hannah in Cycle Service if she had seen many LEL people.

She said a few but all they wanted was Chamois Cream

    Thurs 8am update

@Murun & @bill both at Hessle (Humber bridge) with 320km to go.

@acs at Malton with 390 to go.

Going to be a hot slog through the fens but onto the home straight now...

Keep pedalling, drink lots and don't forget the suncream (amongst other creams)

1000 of the 1500 starters have now made it back over the Pennines to Barnard Castle and 56 have their feet up at the finish!

Top effort CCEers. Particularly given the heat recently. Wishing you tailwinds for the home stretch.

Was volunteering at Innerleithen yesterday, really enjoyed it. Was meant to be there for the entirety but got caught up in other stuff.
Coming back to Edinburgh a few hours after the control closed I saw a few lost souls dragging themselves up the Granites

Our intrepid trio seem to be making good progress today (2pm Thurs)

Murun @ Boston 210km to go
Bill @ Louth 260km to go
Acs south of the Humber 300km to go

All looking good to be well inside the 128hour limit. Cracking work.

Speaking of the time limit, Innerleithen control closed at lunchtime yesterday but we still met riders coming over the granites on our way back yesterday evening

We stopped them and advised that they were now on their own. The last rider was a particularly chirpy Indian woman who was determined to ride back to London. I hope she makes it. (Rider G32, tracker #220).

Pleasing to see she did get some support in Eskdalemuir and is now over the border into England.

For those monitoring the LEL Facebook site, the finishers are not well covered (currently). But there is a Twitter feed :)

89 finishers so far, including 1st female finishers Fiona Sharp.

With 750 (in total) having made it as far as Hessle and should be able to make it inside their time limit if they can keep pedalling.

Maybe another 200 behind that who are looking doubtful (& if they don't make the Humber bridge by 9pm they'll find it closed for the night)

Currently in Norfolk where it is 32, and very hard to do a lot. 6am is lovely for cycling, but now is just the pits. Huge admiration for anyone who embarks on a 300km ride in this heat but having 1200km under their belts is just nuts. Well done all and good luck staying cool and hydrated.

In St Ives - rider tracking is down here. Going to wait for it to cool down before progressing

@Murun - We can see you have checked into St Ives at 18.23 (5 mins ago) so they must be working again, albeit atleast 30mins after you arrived.

Not far to go now - enjoy sightseeing Cambridge as you pass through.

Thanks, but no thanks to the drivers of Cambridge and Essex - a quite ridiculous succession of close passes with a full-on left hook thrown in. And Simple Minds are playing yet another bloody farewell concert

That's not what you need right now. Traffic & temperature should cool for the last leg. Bon courage.

Great achievements for the. CCE alumni. I saw one comment from a Nutter in just before them who said Because of the nice weather it was almost like a holiday.

    Chapeau beaucoups.
