Month end approaches, and I've missed the last two and will miss June too, so despite being On Holiday and about to drive west I am determined to make it along next Friday.

Probably bringing my German guest who is about to learn all about the joys of west coast of Scotland camping in early June. She has been primed with midge videos and shewn the instruments (tick twisters, head net, waterproof layers).

Question: we will be en auto as heading immediately after. Where would you park a motor vehicle near PY? I have never tried to leave a car anywhere near the University! Is there pay parking on Chalmers Street?

Just park on the Meadows at Bouroughloch. Everyone else does.

Yes, I saw that. I might try to be slightly more socially responsible...

Today I spotted a visually impaired person with hi viz, white stick and collie dog. Not on meadows tho, no, this was up the Wol path. Brave person.

Then I spotted The Mighty Kaputnik and we hi-5'd and I said That is a mIGHTY cAP-UTNIK you are wearing, he retorted BUNNET (which as you know is a scotticism for the French word Bonnet, well that is what Laidback said)

Then I spotted the same silver car parked on the cycle path at the east end of the meadows near Tills Bookshop. same as yesterday - taking the pee-pee

you can pay on chambers st but maybe easier if you overshoot to Argyle Place? more likely get a space? also need to pay hence all the speech therapists using Sick Kids passes to park in the street etc)

Yes - dark blue and brown on the map: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20276/parking_spaces/507/find_parking_bays

60p/hr cheaper if you go a street further west, or around George Sq area (but this might be reflected in ease of finding a space...)

There’s usually space in George Square, unhurt. It’s not University permit parking there.

@unhurt seeing the forecast for the next week we have just postponed our walking/camping holidays in the north west until July (end of financial year at my workplace is in June, so it's difficult for us to take holidays in June). At least it may be a bit warmer.

But you, please do enjoy! ;-)

You can park directly underneath the PY ice cream parlour. Quartermile allow the public to park in the underground car park. Could be £££££££

Edit. £2-50 per hour seems pretty reasonable https://www.q-park.co.uk/en-gb/cities/edinburgh/quartermile/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=LPM_Google_Quartermile

More importantly I expect the Capital Trailers to furnish a full report, with actions, over the expensive buns.

    "expensive buns"
@unhurt Tsk! I can tell you a 'secret' how to obtain free cardamon/cinnamon/cream buns!
[secret] Have you heard of OLIO app? it's a food sharing app and there are regular pickups in the evening from above bakery and then you collect the goods from one of the volunteers. We must have eaten about a hundred of buns by now... [/secret]

@bill presumably their buns are rather firmer by the end of the day, although I suppose you can't complain when they are free.

@IWRATS "Young Capital Team" is it the name of your new political party?

@gembo I can also come and see you.

@jdanielp yes, a bit firmer but they are full of butter and 15s in a microwave brings them back to a nice and soft state.

Not going to make it as 70 miles too far away. (Yes - I know that is a short cycle for some!)
Looks like a good crowd with Capital Trail tales etc.
