Cheers @gembeau. Just got the stainless machine screws to fit the toe clips. That'll be her finished. Sadly, joyfully.

I'm hoping the decals satisfy the connoisseurs.

Project done. Shakedown ride to a social event tomorrow. Handover when my pal's wife returns from Czecha.

Is that working? My browser seems to be editing the url under its own steam.

    First link still works fine.

Photos seem to be pre-sticker (531)?

So @algo had a quick ride on Katie last night and pronounced her both sound and pretty.

As a result I am tempted to move the status of this thread to 'resolved'.

But my mate's wife is back and Katie can go home this weekend. I am looking forward to feeling sad about our shed being empty and all warm knowing that his shed has a good bike in it.

Has certainly got me thinking about acquiring a trashed 80s Campag-equipped Bianchi or similar.

sound and pretty is an understatement. Beautifully reconstructed and an oiled painting...

Insisted on showing Katie to @steveo. He feigned a lack of excitement as she has no motor.

Is there a trick to tightening Tange headsets I'm missing? The main 'cone' part is just lightly knurled for a light finger-grip. Makes it very hard to tighten the lock nut in the right place. I usually overtighten slightly and then back the lower nut up into a stationary lock nut.

Katie went home last night. Took my pal a couple of minutes to spot the bike I'd casually propped in his garden.

    WHAT'S THAT?

    Is this.....?

    How did you.....?

[Fully five minutes silence, back turned on assembled company]

No tears though, so the project has been declared a failure.

So, you’ll be getting to keep it.

No that would be a success. Lost the bike, no tears. Failure.

The project plan included multiple deliverables. Tears were rule in-scope in the third gateway meeting and signed off by the steering group and project champion.

We're going to have to roll-back, implement a quick and dirty fix and then redeploy straight into production.

Yes, take the bike back, fit the missing dust seals on the hubs, re-do the slightly asymmetric bar tape and re-gift to see if that brings tears.

Hmmm - five minutes is more than enough time to compose oneself, particularly through skilled use of tear ducts to minimise external signs...

    @Roibeard

Perhaps it was so. Scottish men are often reluctant to show much of what's inside them.

I think the five minutes were spent touring the Western Isles and riding back to halls from the pub in Aberdeen.
