Little horses on Vuelta not today, yesterday, just watched them on recorded highlights, now watching the Stelvio then it will be back to see if Movistar keep up the pressure as they leave the Basque Country behind

Jai managing to put his jacket on was the best moment of an exciting day in the Giro. His ascendancy is really helping my hopes in the virtual league.

Stelvio was a stunning stage today.

@gembo - not considered good etiquette to ride 50km on someone's wheel and then drop them on sprint (!). If he had dropped back he could have contributed in less spectacular way. Then again sponsors like the visuals of a sprint.

Also too flimsy in the wind, the slightly heavier ones were easier. Wilco tried gilet but he was frozen.

Some debate that Jai Should have dropped back to help Wilco minimize his losses.

The climb on Saturday might make the time trial less of a decider?

    Strike! Strike! Strike!

Apparently after the start this morning, the riders stopped and waited for their team busses to come back and get them. They cut out 100 km down the side of Lake Como in the rain.

Not sure this holds when your guy is just behind in the virtual pink jersey. If Hindley had worked with Geoghan Hart and lost Kelderman the pink jersey, his team would have been even crosser with him than they already were.

It seems he took a middle way, taking 4 seconds by sprinting meant his team are 1 and 2 but defying the team leader is what Froome was prevented from doing to help Wiggins win.

TGH couldn’t drop him but he couldn’t work with TGH to put them both ahead of Wilco. Else he would have no job. But he will maybe transfer to bigger team now?

Hard to know with the Giro as the field is weaker. Whereas the Vuelta is strong field and everyone full tilt from the very start.

Also 250km in the rain not much fun. Needs to end tomorrow - I am hoping TGH can do same again though how Rohan Dennis became a super domestique I dont know. Could be that Ineos have strongest team?? Even without G - surely he would have won this one

but if he had waited for Wilco at the bottom of the Stelvio they might both have lost their places....

hindley just did what he was told, and they ended up with top two gc on the day with a sprint stage today, a shortened stage tomorrow, and a time trial in milan on sunday

i don't think sunweb got it wrong

If he had waited for Kelderman he would have dropped to third or maybe 4th behind Bilbao but Kelderman would have had a minute more on TGH

Depends on saturday stage. If TGH has same pep as Tadej then he might take it

None of them great time trial lists.

TGH certainly didnt think Hindley should have sprinted.

Craft zips getting dissed. But Hindley had castelli. Brian Smith saying the jackets used to have Velcro fasteners

    he got what he deserved

on stage 15 just before the final sprint, he feigned to kelderman that he didnt have the legs for it

@bax - san forensic detail. What I like about TGH is he is brining jewellery back into cycling. Not since the days of pantani chuckin his ear ring away before charging from last to first on the climb have we had this much jewellery.

pantani chucked his ear ring to reduce weight ?

@bax yes and a sort of ritual to psyche himself up and get the steroids flowing. He would discard cap, anything in his pockets, bidon, Velcro fastening rain jacket And ear ring.

Basically he went up Alpe D’HUEZ every year in his undercrackers.

@SRD et al. You're right about 'etiquette' of course. That was intimated by Bradley Wiggins in studio in conversation with Brian Smith. I thought it was a great stage finish anyway and looking forward to rest
Only watching the Quest plus one highlights.

"TGH certainly didnt think Hindley should have sprinted."

Think it was more Hindley's celebrating and gesticulating after one of the greatest displays ever of wheelsucking was what got TGH's goat.

    @murun Buchstansangur.

Jai could have gone earlier I imagine. So I like your point about the wheel sucking to within metres of the line.

TGH’s coupon was tripping him though before Jai raised his arms in a quite modest celebration.

TGH couldn’t drop him though so debate will rage.

Apparently Sunweb struggling with he Craft rain capes at La Vuelta too BUT Jai was trying to get best young rider castelli cape on.

    Flipping rugby instead of Vuelta

Giro will only be on for half an hour?

Sunweb have their rain capes on today no problem

Lot of the Vuelta riders have ass savers and some have little seat post bags? Ah no, just the tracker attached higher up than I usually spot it

    Excellent breakaway and chase though

I’m finding Kirby just about bearable in the ‘uninterrupted’ stream for some reason. I guess it is one less annoyance, and having no adverts makes it less jarring?

    Anyway, top class race today.

    The boy done good.
I also notice that “Tao” is “Oat” backwards.
Which is much better than “yeldarb” for example.
